go for quad
-
quads havent reached the peak of their evolution yet. so theres severe bottlenecks to anything not designed to use a quad core. they do come in handy for running renders in max or working in photoshop though. or anything else that requires severe number crunching.
-
Wonder if quads have anything to do with CS: Source acting real jerky (even though there's no lag). :sigh:
Corsair Dominators

i got some kingston hyperx which was supposed to be 800 but only clocks 666.666. :D it could be overcloacked if you change the timing and up the voltage, at least thats what they told me to do. it didnt work too stable so i had to downclock it. id be careful about what memory you buy and read reviews thoroughly :D

What exactly is "without problems?" I have seen many reports of people with similar systems averaging a paltry 30fps in the Crysis beta on max settings at that resolution. :p

Wow! Nice system! If you don't mind me asking, how much did that set you back?

Actually, very little.. My best budy is selling me his rig (the one above). He's allways changing something every 3 months..
The HDDs and the box are 1 year old, everything else is 3 months old.
He now has his sight set on SLi.. Yup, he's planing on getting two GeForce 8800 is SLI mode. That's why he's selling me this one. the motherboard cna't make full use of hte SLI (despite the fact that it's one sweet peace of hardware), his current graphics card isn't a sLI model, and he's got his sights set on a quad processor (I dunno why, perforance boost is small).
All in all this is gonna cost me 9500 Km (or roughly 1850 $ ) which is NOTHING compared to it's real worth. I sure has good friends, don't I ;7

nifty. *goes back to lurking*

That depends. It's a good setup, but you can get a similar one for about $1200 around here, so he might have actually ripped you off a lot. :p Although the prices may also be higher where you live.

Why? we have newegg, remember?
-
That reminds me, does Newegg have a better selection than NCIX, or better prices?
-
The selection is easily the best of any reseller out there. As for prices, Newegg is consistently the best only for video cards and memory. Other stuff may or may not be cheaper than at competing stores. Mwave tends to be slightly better with motherboards and processors, OEM hard drives and optical drives are about the same everywhere, and everything else (cases, PSUs, monitors, etc.) varies widely with hot deals coming up all over the place.
-
Do they ship to Canada?
EDIT: Mwave doesn't, and Newegg doesn't. :(
-
well dont shop at micro center. theyre jerks there.
