Title: Were these ever released?
Post by: Mad Bomber on October 07, 2007, 04:01:50 pm
I've got a hankerin' for several models which I've dug up info of in old threads or remember having seen. But I don't think they were ever released -- or if they were, I can't find them.

- GVCa Amaunet by Sandwich
- GTExD Found in the OTT modeldump.
- GTExE  -- this one in particular i need; I think it's slated to be in INF SCP, but I'm not sure, and waiting is bleh.
- Corybant and Silenus, by Bobboau, from some random new alien race that never materialized and got mostly recycled into Ancient models (at least, that's what happened to the Attis and Satyr, from the same group of ships).
- GTC Tyr, presumably intended for the Babel Effect Different model from the one in INFA, see below. Ace has no idea what happened to it. Presumed lost.
- TRF Capson, which was an Ugly; twas going to be in some campaign or other but got cancelled. Not strictly necessary, the HTL Uglies are better looking anyhow, but it'd be nice to have nonetheless.
- the mysterious SJ Bozrah. It's supposed to be quite a mean Shivan ship, but I never got more than a glimpse of it from someone in #nodewar a few years back.
- The models from the old Centaur Project -- FOUND, head to http://www.game-warden.com/tcp/ (http://www.game-warden.com/tcp/) for the campaign, MODs and all
- GTF Morrigan by Maeglamor -- Forthcoming
- GTB Lyre by Venom Thanks, Eviscerator!
- Go ahead. Add your own to the list.

Uhm...

The GTExD and the GTExE are in OTT, right? They will also be in INFA.

Same thing for the Tyr...was it taken from Aldo's modeldumps?

Are they in OTT? *rummage rummage*

Well the EXD is, at least. But the ExE isn't in there, as far as I can tell. :/

No idea about the Tyr to be honest.

Yes, at least one of them is in OTT.

The Tyr is in INFA.

The INF-A Tyr is different from the Tyr I'm referring to, I think. I'm referring to this one, from the defunct Babel Effect. Definitely boxier and more handgun-like than the Tyr from INF-A.

Even I have no idea what may have happened to the Tyr mesh.

Well, yeah, that's a completely different ship...and is interesting, too.

Is it designed to launch cruise missiles?

Ok, now you've caught my interest. Anyone give me a bit more info about this thing?

The B****h is a ship that Sandwich made for the Babel Effect. Imagine the Gigas, but not lame.

- the mysterious B****h.
It would help if we knew what the name was.  "Biatch" is the only thing that comes to mind.

In an old TVWP modeldump.  Remind me in about three weeks and I can upload it.

- GTB Lyre by Venom
It's floating around.  I think it's actually in Inferno R1 under a different name.

I have a copy of the Lyre in a zip right here on my storage drive. It's one of my favs

I can email it to ya. Your addy is hidden, so just pm me with where you want it sent to.

Ace, can I tell them the name? Babel Effect's been defunct for years now, and even if you do plan on resurrecting it later, public knowledge of a six-letter name won't make the plot useless. :p

Goober, I'll hold you to that. ;)

Ooh. PMing you now, then.

The SJ Bozrah.

However the "SJ Biatch" is also apt.

I've decided on something.

Models have disappeared and melted away into nothingness, and the same's true of missions. Either due to obscurity (aforementioned TCP, no offense), the death of the sites they're hosted on (e.g. United Space), something catastrophic like a hard drive failure, or something as mundane as the creator forgetting all about it and then leaving the community.

We need a community-wide modeldump for stuff like abandoned MODs and campaigns, I think.

And host it on HC?

EDIT: The Lyre is on the way.

Yeah. Tho, preferably in multiple places (SG perhaps if Hunter has the space, definitely Filefront or something also). So that no server outage or laxity can kill off the community's efforts to date.

(Also, thanks for the bomber, Eviscerator.)

Hades Combine recently had a news post (I think) "IF a model is not popular DL wise, it probably should be deleted" or some words to that effect...

Not a good place for people to consider as a "Model Dump" site if we wish to preserve FS1/FS2's mesh legacy...

We need a more permanent solution, in a very transient world.

How about the 3d object database? I don't know how that works but I have gotten a lot of meshes (untextured) from there...

Snail posted that(at hades combine) and was told that they wouldn't do that IIRC.

Taristin made that but he never finished and released it.

I was actually thinking about trying to set up a SVN server for various mods to use.  I think it could really help out mod development, if all the staff made some sort of attempt to use it properly.  If nothing else, if a mod went defunct on it, anything in it could be added to the file dump.  Would anyone else be interested in some sort of project like this?  Regardless, I'm probably going to be doing it for Fate of the Galaxy (SWC) at least, but having some other interest might help me get it accomplished sooner :)

See, you know what happens when you don't remind people?  People forget. :p

Anyway, I spent entirely too much time scrounging around in the TVWP archives, and I can't find it.  I know it used to be there, but I also know that I cleaned out some of the obsolete stuff a while ago, so I may have deleted it. :( I guess the only thing you can do at this point is ask Maeg if he has it.
