Make sure you have no mods running. Like Inferno R1 vp files without SCP patch. That is move mods into their proper directories. Never put mod files into the main freespace directory.

Run debug build. Search for fs2_open.log (should be in main data directory). Use 'code' tags and post its contents here.

Yeah.. As i already KNEW that to be the case.... Just wanted to make sure the RiG0 understood it too. Then as to 'how to fix'...
Move following files from C:\games\freespace2 to C:\games\freespace2\mediavps
C:\games\freespace2\mp-710_adveffects.vp
C:\games\freespace2\mp-710_effects.vp
C:\games\freespace2\mp-710_models.vp
C:\games\freespace2\mv_adveffects.vp
C:\games\freespace2\mv_core.vp
C:\games\freespace2\mv_effects.vp

C:\games\freespace2\mv_music.vp
C:\games\freespace2\mv_textures.vp
These files ought to be to their respective mod directories - each into its own so INF_Main.vp should probably go to C:\games\freespace2\Inferno\ directory etc.

I fixed Hellstryker's problem over AIM. He had an Inferno VP in the main folder.

Yeah the ':' in icons.tbl in line 6 is a known error in non-SCP patched Inferno R1 so I kinda expected to see that file to be somewhere.

How the...... #$@!#$....??? :wtf: Hellstryker had a Fresh Turey's install from the ground up... although he did have to close the Installer once; it froze. It started back up when he restarted it and seemed to complete normally... Why would an Inferno .vp be where it ended up??? Now I'm :confused:

I'm going to go through the text files and make sure it didn't get installed by the Installer.
EDIT: Just did a full re-install with the Installer, no INF_Main.vp.

Just Installed via Turey's, same-ish problem. Except with cursors and fonts. Help please. Also, after the initial error, if I try to break into debugger, the game crashes hard.

It's checking for the retail CDs.

I'm attempting to re-download and install the whole thing. I'll let you know if it works. Why? because I got frustrated and deleted a few things, and it got away from me. Yes I know I'm stupid. *sigh*
btw, great job you guys do here, seriously.
Edit: Eight hours later and one complete, fresh download and install and it's working perfectly.
The problem was that if the download gets interrupted, I guess one of the files gets corrupted or something and won't work.

Yeah my bet was that sparky_fs2.vp had gotten corrupted.

@karajorma: I've been meaning to test this; when I get home, I will.
Try opening a sparky_fs2.vp that has been downloaded from Turey's in VPView. (Unless Turey's fixed this on his own.. I told him I was gonna compare it with the .vp from the retail disc).
