Greetings all.
I have just opened up a new FS2 based website called Farpoint Station. I was originally designing this site to host my upcoming campaign, The Omicron Incident.
However, I decided to set it up as a community site, which will feature forums, downloads, and all that good stuff. I will also be offering hosting to anyone who has a Freespace 2 Mod and wants to set up a website for it. I decided to call the entire collective site Sector 114, with Farpoint Station being the main page.
The site is still under construction, but most of the important bits are up. The background story for my campaign is up on there as well, so feel free to check it out.

Thanks,
CaptainX

Link down.
Just before I look though... do we need another community site (with forums)?
-
Yes. We do. And I can get to the link. Looks pro, CaptainX.
By the way, I'm getting registration problems too. The email comes but the activation link doesn't work. Oh, and is it just me, or are you super-paranoid of bots? Just got that impression... you need to be registered to get to the downloads. :wtf:

:jaw: I want the space station!

A new FS2 site that can offer more content is always a GOOD THING.
I take it your server is having problems? Site looks good, I tried to register twice but...
Times out to a blank page with following text, "Unable to establish connection to MySQL
2002 : Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2)"

Link down.
My host, 1 & 1 Internet, warned me there might be some downtime and server issues over the next couple of days due to hardware upgrades. If it appears down, keep trying.

The registration problem has been fixed. It was a stupid oversight on my part. If you have already tried to register, and it failed, please PM me on here with your preferred username and password and I'll add you manually. I don't believe it'll allow you to try to register again with the same username - but I can add you manually.
As for having to register to get the downloads, I was attempting to avoid file leechers. Even though my hosting package comes with an amazing amount of bandwidth for its price, it's not unlimited. I at least wanted people to register to access the downloads.
Do you guys think this is going a bit too far? I don't want to drive anyone off by requiring registration.
However, I should note that I stand my ground on having to register to post in the forums :)

That would be the GTI Whitehall v2 by TrashMan. It's already available here:

I wasn't scared off by the download restriction, I was just a bit curious. Good idea. Thanks for fixing the registration too, I got in as MustangI9. ;)
-
i registered last night. will it still not work? if not, check your PM captain. and how do i get hosting? ;7 (im getting close to getting those ships workin- i can feel it :pimp: )
-
I still can't register. :(
-
ok, i tried again to register, but it said Titan is already in use- but i didn't get my email. dang

Anyone who has tried to register, please send me a PM on here with your requested username and password.
This is a bug in this particular website system... when someone tries to register, it creates an entry into the SQL database. If the registration is unsuccessful, it does not delete this entry... so the next time you try to use that username and email, the system thinks it's already in use.
Just send me a PM on here with your name, password, and email, and I'll add you manually.
