Some of you might remember my Thunder fighter from long ago.

Completely reskinned and remodeled for maximum efficiency. I plan on using it for my mod presentation for school too.
Here is the older version

So what do you think of the improvement?

Very beautiful. I am often skeptical of one man mods, but your designs are outstanding.
-
Thanks, though my mod is one man mostly because I suck at leading :sigh:. Though there are advantages to being one man. Actually, come to think of it I do have my friend next door helping me :D

Hmmm... EAF Thunderbolt II, anyone?
SA-32A Thunderbolt-class StarFury
...there's a lot of common denominators but also a lot of differences... those weapons in the end of the wings will be ***** to use, though. Useful for cap ship assaults, and if at some point there's the chance of dynamic convergence... :mad2:
Looks very awesome... the improvement from the old one is pretty much like from the FS1 Herc to MediaVP Herc. Now, make normal maps for it and give us in-game screenies of that new baby! :p

I base quite a few of my ships off B5 :p. They just look great! And I plan on using some kind of semi realistic physics like in BTRL.
The wing cannons are for long range suppression with a bit of convergence. With all those bolts firing at range you have a pretty good chance to hit actually. The chin cannon is for close range shooting where the field of fire doesn't need to be larger.
Btw... about the normal maps. Is there a build out there I can get that is semi stable and available? Because I CAN make decent normal maps :D.

Where have you been for the last three days?
2007-10-07 stable branch (Xt version) (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,49939.0.html)
Supports normal maps as well as height maps! And works pretty well too. And don't miss the small normalmap pack for some FreeSpace ships...
-
I... am... a happy person now :D :D :D
-
I have created a masterpiece.
-
I have finished exporting it and I made a simple normal map. Once I get the last few tidbits done I will be testing it.
-
[drool] Must...... have........ [/drool] :eek2:
-
Sadly there is a few geometry errors on the model :( some of the barrels have holes in them ingame.
-
Well, i hope it doesn't fly like this (http://gizmodo.com/gadgets/star-wars/video-the-rocket+powered-x+wings-flightand-death-308288.php).

:eek2:
That must suck. Goes to show you that X-Wings aren't that good at flying after all :)
-
Amateurs...... haven't that ever heard of wind-tunnel testing?? ;7  :P
-
Personally i wouldn't have spent thousands of dollars on launching an x-wing in this manner. I would have built it, and kept it. Spend millions on making a real x-wing that can fly. Talk about a budget plane there
