yeah, I know 3.4 is final :doubt:. Yet, write which changes or new features you would like to see
how about...
- adding the new cool glide features from the BtrL patch ? :)
- enable glide for the Aurora MKI, the Thunderbolt and the Psi versions ?
- mulitplayer ? ;7
- more voice-acted campaigns ?
any other ideas ?
-
All the Star Furies have glide! :wtf:
-
sure ? am I doing something wrong ?
-
You tell me.
-
"Please consult your Ship controls setting under Options when the Babylon Project has been initiated."
So, yes Glide is in game. You just need to know what keys to press to activate it.
-
I know that Glide is in the game! But I say the
- Thunderbolt
- Psi Aurora
- Psi Thunderbolt
- Badger
have Glide not enabled!
And except for the Badger, this doesn't make sense :hopping:
-
Slide != Glide
One is the ability to strafe your ship, the other is the ability to keep your movement vector while rotating your ship à la I-War. I can't tell right now which one is which.
-
i think glide is the strafe-thing, where you have to use the engines to move the ship and slide is when you shut down the engines and the kinetic energy drives you onwards in the same direction no matter how you turn your ship (similar to drifting with a car on ice).
btw: hi everyone
-
It's the other way around. Which pretty much proves the naming is pointlessly confusing.
-
damn 50% chances...
-
Yeah I'd stay away from casinos.
-
I AM TALKING ABOUT GLIDE, THE ABILITY TO TURN YOUR SHIP IN ONE DIRECTION FLY IT KEEPS FLYING INTO ANOTHER !
-
yes thats working in TBP... default is Alt+G if i remember right
-
That barrage of capital letters was uncalled for Vidmaster. Note the "m" word under my name and be careful.

It gets easier with a more recent build. Whenever you go into glide mode a little indicator saying Glide appears next to your speed bar.
-
in BtrL yes, but I didnt know that there was a "more recent build" for TBP ? I though development has stopped ?
-
TBP uses the same builds FS2_Open does. There's no good reason why when 3.6.10 comes out people can't play TBP on that.
-
How about a version of Babylon 5 station with the upgraded weaponry? The ones added in Gropos episodes and used to take out the Centauri cruiser in Fall of Night. As it is now with only laser turrets seems a bit weak.
-
If the weaponry exists in the tables it's a relatively easy matter to swap it in FRED.
-
i also noticed that the aurora in the minbari war campaign didn't glide
-
[Vidmaster's post removed. Keep your temper. That's 2 warnings. You know how baseball works right?]
-

Redrake was referring to the additional weaponry added during Season 2, which would manifest itself on our model by additional turrets, not simply by rearming the existing turrets. Not sure who would be in a position to make that kind of change.
-
Ah. I was assuming you'd simply added the weapons when the model was built and just not given them anything particularly noticeable as a default weapon.
-
I heared sb here is putting together a new version so you don't need the patch anymore.
REQUESTREQUESTREQUESTREQUEST:
There is a landscape1.pof in TB-Core. I had to make a mod (better: Orph made it) to get it into FRED to work with it.
Would it be possible to reactivate that model ?
-
do you know what the problem with gliding/sliding is ??
I just dont have enough fingers on my left hand to use the keys!!!
-
Maybe a toggle for the thrusters, like the one for gliding, would be good to solve your problem :)
-
You know something ? I would like to have a thread called "Optimal playing with mouse and keyboard"
currently I use WSAD as "max speed, zero speed , afterburning , and 'nose up' "
Q for next hostile , E for escort....
Perhaps I use E for this gliding thingy ??? Ah hell, if joysticks didn't break after some time....
-

I bound them to my hat switch since I never really use it to do the free look stuff. It would be nice if I could do something like hat switch for glide, shift-hat for free look, ctrl-hat for thrusters. No toggle necessary for glide that way. Wonder what binding it and leaving glide on all the time would do??? Guess I have something to try later tonight.

You keep on moving in the direction you were facing when you turned the toggle on and can rotate your fighter in any direction, at least that's how i use it :)
-
That might change in the next version ;)
-
How?
-
Changes to the glide code. Thrusters work properly now for one thing.
You can already see those changes in Beyond the Red Line and you'll see them in TBP pretty soon I suspect.
-
Though not entirely off topic, I think it would be cool to implement a code that offered offered more than one warp effect as there are several types of hyperspace exits and entrances (the Shadows just phase in and out and the Walkers create this lightning storm instead of using normal jump points).
Also, is there a way to implement more advanced animations for characters/pilots? Like, say when interactive 3D cockpits become more streamlined, when you press the button to toggle shields, the pilot's arm stretches out and presses whatever buttons to make said changes?
Likewise, if possible, what about the possibilities of adding character animations for say mobile suits like Robotech or Gundam?

I love those.
-
The patch changed gameplay in BtRL a fair bit. I imagine it will have a nice effect on the EA ships too.
-
sure it will have and I will love it. Starfuries are supposed to be able to outmanouver most fighters, but currently, it doesn't happen very often.
It's a pity that the AI cannot glide, that would increase their danger level in BtrL (and then in TBP too, of course.)
