Someone has a complete chronological list from the very begining to the latest events in line?
The lists I found were not really up-to-date, I guess... Skippies page is neither chronological nor complete, is it? :nervous:
Would be cool to have a complete story line to follow... ;7
-
Almost none of the various campaigns relate to each other at all, so a timeline is impossible.
-
I've proposed something here...
http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,49970
-
well actually, there is a list:
Freespace 1 - Silent Thread - Freespace 2
my personal favorite for a list would be:
Freespace 1 - Inferno Alliance SCP - Silent Thread Reborn - Freespace 2 - Inferno SCP and all fully voice-acted ;7
saddly, some of those don't exist yet or haven't been released.
-
Silent Thread? :wtf:
my personal favorite for a list would be:
Freespace 1 - Inferno Alliance SCP - Silent Thread Reborn - Freespace 2 - Inferno SCP and all fully voice-acted ;7
Well...the order isn't correct
-
Yeah, Silent Threads are always funny. Until some barsetard necroes them.
But indeed the only accurate list would be FS1, Silent Threat, FS2. No more, no less.
-
The Cold Element one: FreeSpace: The Great War, FreeSpace: Silent Threat, Aftermath, FreeSpace 2, Warzone, Derelict, BlackWater Operations
-
There actually was an attempt to create such a list once, but I'm not sure how to find it.
-
Silent Thread? :wtf:
those are cool, you know. You post a new thread and nobody posts a reply. They are SILENT ;)
-
They are not 'cool,' okay? They are not 'cool!' They make me sad. :sigh:
Especially when its such a good topic and when I typed for 2 hours to start it....
-
that was pure sarcasm :blah:
of course you a right, they are NOT positive in any way :shaking: :shaking: :shaking:
-
FreeSpace1 - Silent Threat - FreeSpace2 - Blue Planet
That's what I take the storyline as :D
-
Mine goes something like this and incorporates quite a few of other people's campaigns, as well as random backstory (mostly my own).
TVWP (2318-2335)
Many details filled in by self in this period also, partially to conform with the later campaigns and make 'em merge a bit better; this stuff is mutable mainly depending on where the rest of the TVWP team goes
FS1 (2335)
Silent Threat (2335)
Crucible (2335)
Shrouding the Light (2336)
Eagle Takes Flight (2336) (Not finished yet, obviously)
More self-written details
Awakenings (2338)
Ascension (2339) (This is not and will not be a campaign, ever, but I might write a story or background posts; involves the assassination of the previous Emperor and attempts to do the same to the recently crowned Khonsu, as well as a brief war)
Homesick (2355) (Nothing in it directly contradicts canon, and the blue giant system comes in handy ;) and it's a good campaign.)
FS2 (2367)
Exodus (Concurrent with FS2) (You'll hear more about this project of mine later ;))
I leave it to others to define post-FS2 events
-
'Exodus' is the campaign with the group fighting against the Chalgasi, right?
-
You could put my campaing in practicly any list. Doesn't contradict canon anywhere :D (and it's set in FS2 persion to boot)
-
'Exodus' is the campaign with the group fighting against the Chalgasi, right?
Close. It'll be the events that lead up to that. (My modeling abilities are poor to nonexistent, so I doubt people will be laying eyes on the Chalgasi or their ships anytime soon, unless someone volunteers in that regard.)
I'd prefer not to discuss the specifics on the forum, tho. PM me and we can chat a bit :)
-
I have a feeling this thread would have died if I didn't post. :p
-
Freespace 1 - Inferno Alliance SCP - Silent Threat Reborn - Freespace 2 - Inferno SCP and all fully voice-acted ;7
the order isn't correct
actually it doesn't matter if Alliance takes place before ST or afterwards (I guess from your post, its afterwards), since those two stories share no direct connections. How could they  ? The Sol Node is closed.
-
It would be cool if someone made a graph (a Gantt chart (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gantt_chart) would be ideal) of the different FreeSpace campaigns and the dates that they take place. That would let people see, at a glance, which campaigns follow a certain order and which ones overlap.
-
Great, another meaningless time waster >:] Thx goob :P ill have it done just as soon as i play the 200 FSO campaigns.. well more like 40 but whatever :P
-
jeah cool, post your results ASAP... ;7  :P
I am waiting.... ;)
-
show patience, my child :) ;)
-
NP... waiting for a new GFX card atm.... an reading lots of weird stuff in here...
btw: I found this somewhere:
chronological order:
Goober's Ross 128 cutscene mission
FSPort - The Great War campaign
Silent Threat (might actually take place during or after the next few entries but who cares...)
Sol - a History / Inferno Alliance - two different views on what happened on Sol system immediately after being cut off from GTA space
Inferno R1 - same place, much longer time span, although neither SaH or IA actually lead to Inferno Release 1 campaign...
Sync
FS2 Campaign - Second Shivan Incursion
Transcend
Into the Depths of Hell
Procyon Insurgency
Derelict
what do you think?
-
I FOUND IT. Actually got off my rear end and did a search on the least-mentioned campaign I could think of I knew was mentioned (my own first, perversely enough).

Note that it's not up-to-date, and some of these campaigns have since fallen by the wayside.

What's Millennium?
-
A campaign that is on that list only probably for the fact that it's set in such a ridiculously long time in the future. Proposed another Colossus fighting more and more Sathanes in the year 3000. Yay! :D
-
700 year old ships still in use? :doubt:
-
But it wouldn't be the Collossus... it'd be the Collossus 3000. :D
-
The Colossus 3000? As in Battlecruiser 3000? :nervous:
-
It was a JAD joke.
In JAD2, Derek Smart commands from the Collossus 3000.
-
Correction: not Derek Smart is the CO of the Colossus 3000 (was there an A.D. at the end as well?).
-
But it wouldn't be the Collossus... it'd be the Collossus 3000. :D
It wouldn't be called the Collossus 3000. It would be called the Colossus 3000.
No one expects the Grammar Inquisition! Ironic, isn't it... Or was it ambiguous? Or politically incorrect... Hmm...
-
Here's a handy memory trick for you, kids:
The Colossus has many cannons but the Collossus isn't canon.
-
Mmmm.... Signature worthy, but it would spoil the fearful symmetry of siggy.
-

hell, jeah. missed to find that one, thanks
will try to install them.... just have to figure out where the files belong to.... :doubt:
-
Add this jsut before Freespace 2:
Flames of War - Baptism of fire (aka - Chapter 1) (2366)
-
I like stories and history, so I've been working on my modlist to make the campaigns more fun for myself (not that I play them in the right order, but at least I can prevent big spoilers this way if I want to). :) This chronology is - for obvious reasons - not canon, so don't flame me for that please. I did leave out campaigns that I didn't like when I tested them (because they were too unfinished for my taste). I also added some future campaigns that I'm looking forward to. Feel free to mention things that I might have missed, I'm always looking for more myself. :)

This is done already, the Cold Element alternate universe campaigns:
Aftermath
Warzone
Derelict
Twilight
Police Action
Into the Halls of Valhalla
Blackwater Operations - Under Development
-
Not bad. :]
-
Yes! Everyone should now play the campaigns in the order Fregle has put them in.
That way everyone will play the Frontlines campaigns as they'll be very near the beginning, mwa ha ha ha ha...
Seriously though, I am intrigued as to what it would be like to play them all in that order, if it would feel like one gigantic campaign rather than a series of separate campaigns. I'd be very interested in hearing what the experience was like if someone, perhaps you, Fregle, plays through them like this. After you've finished the list, I'll be pasting it into a document. I've never played Ancient-Shivan War, I enjoyed Unification War, and it's getting a revamp in the near future, and I've played everything up to Rain on Ribos 4 then. I've played a lot of the campaigns in this list, and that would get me off to a great start. :)
-
I'd definitely discommend this for new players and players without a lot of spare time and patience. It's a good way to get burned out before you get to most of the really good stuff.
-
general Battuta: That's why I said that I don't necessarily play them in that order (just like you don't have to edit a movie or book in chronological order). :) It's absolutely more fun and varied to cherrypick your way through the mods. I just ordered them because I wanted to get a better view of the way the stories are interwoven.
Lorric: I've played some campaigns in order, the fun part is that you have more of an idea of what's happening around you at the same time, which promotes immersion if the plot isn't too bad. It's also interesting to jump to a campaign about an event as it happens in another campaign (like a side character or flash back episode). A lot of campaigns set in the Freespace universe have very few if any relations to others though, the date is only important for the ships/weapons you can use. Otherwise I agree with General Battuta, don't force yourself to play them in order or you might get bored with the game.
-
I don't want to discourage you! I just want to be sure new players don't think this is a good way to play everything.
-
I know, don't worry. :) I just wanted to say I agree and explain why I made the list to avoid further confusion.
-
We tend to get new users who are curious about campaign chronological order on a somewhat regular (albeit infrequent) basis, so this list is still very useful.
-
Nobody remembers poor Operation:Templar in these lists... and it is even an official canon campaign.
-
Deepstar: I didn't forget. :) It's between Shrouding the light and Awakenings on my list.
-
"The Aftermath" starts in 2370.
