What are your favourite and least favourite missions?(FS or FS2)

Basically, it would be the Bearbating. Hella intense and action packed.

Favourite: The mission where my Alpha wing has to protect the GTD Bastion loaded with Meson warheads to the jump node.
Least Favourite: The mission with the NTC Trinity in the nebula. I can't see properly and I can't hit any of those pesky Maticores in a Herc Mark 2 with Rockeyes and Tempests only!!!

Favorate mission...Armaggeddon. Worst mission...any FS1 mission without shields!

I love any mission where you get to go heavy assault or light bombing. Anything where you get to carry around some serious destructive hardware. Like the mission with the Mjolnir net and the GTVA blockade, taking out all the NTF ships.

That's A Flaming Sword. I like that mission too. I like the first assault on the subspace portal, too - can't remember what it was called. It was the first encounter with the Rakshasa class SC Behemoth.

My favorite mission was "Kings Gambit" which is the mission where u blockade the node with 4 mjolnirs, a typhon and a sobek and have to take out a whole bunch of NTF Warships. It was hella fun, get to do some major torpedo runs and see a lot of beams (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

Actually, I like any FreeSpace mission without shields. That way, you really rely on your skills to survive. Shields tend to make pilots relax too much.

Simple enough, would be GTVA vs. Shivans. Give the player at least 2 fighter wings, with another 2 in reinforcements - as for enemy forces, your guess is as good as mine (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

Fav mission = Slaying Ravana...
Reason? i dont really like the mission, but i like the briefing... it uses the FS2Credits2 music & ive altered that for TM needs... Samsa's voice sounds SO cool against it...
Least Fav = the Hammerhead missions...
ok, so they were beginner missions, but FS1 beginner missions were harder due to the lack of shields, hence they were more exciting... The Hammerhead missions were jsut plot builders... there was no 'real' substance... maybe utilising the Myrmidons REAL S.S. abilities & conducitng a Helios strike on a destroyer or sumin...

anyway, who actually FREELY chose the Myrmidon as a fighter after the 53rd missions? (except where you dont have a choice)

The myrmadon is one of my absolute favorite fighters. It can do ANYTHING. I'll dogfight a wing of dragons then procede to do heavy dammage to a Corvet, then head off to intercept a bomber flight attacking my carrier.
I fly the Myrmadon all the way through the game, for the last two missions it's the only ship for me.
Another ship that gets picked on is the Ptah. In the one mission you get a chance to fly it (distruction of the knossos) it's the absolute best for taking on wing after wing of Mara's alone.

The GTF Myrmidon is not a bad fighter overall. It is a Space Superiority Fighter after all.
It all depends on each person's preference. Some might like hard hitting fighters and go for maybe the GTF Hercules Mark 2 Heavy Assault Fighter or the GTF Erinyes Heavy Assault Fighter. Others may like speed over firepower and go with the GTF Perseus Interceptor.
For me, I like the GTF Erinyes Heavy Assault Fighter. Load it with UD-8 Kaysers, Maxims, Harpoons and Tornadoes and you got one fighter which can dish out as much as it can take. I believe it can do even better in the right hands.

If I have a choice I'd chose an interceptor. Heavy assault fighters are to slow, and I just never liked the Myrmidon or the Ulysses(spelling?). Give me speed and manuverability anyday, and I'll run fighter cover for you all day.

I personally prefer heavy assault. Yes, they are slower and less maneuvrable, but when flying intercept in a Perseus, Serapis or Ulysses, I really have to keep on my toes - especially on Insane, where the AI gangs up on you. A volley of double Harpoons will take off a good chunk of an Interceptors' hull, and you can forget about getting anywhere near a cruiser or corvette, as the AAA will tear you apart. I'd rather be able to do some serious damage (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif)
But you know, kudos to Volition for balancing the Interceptors and Heavy Assault player ships so that both are very usable. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

I too prefer heavy assault. I really dislike interceptors, because they never have enough primary weapons. That's why I like the Erinyes and Ares so much. If more speed is needed, I just take out a Myrmidon. It's almost as fast as an interceptor, and has more primary weapon power.

I perfer the heavy assault fighters to interceptors because heavy assault fighters actually have some real armerments and real protection as compared to an interceptor, which has speed (which the 2nd generation interceptors can be outran by a Nahema bomber!), but not enough protection and firepower to really get the job done!

my no. 1 reason for hating it!
the shields just cave in if you sneeze on them & the hull is made of recycled Daikatana CD's (like the game itself...very weak (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif))

Well, it does have firepower and speed - a fairly impressive combination. Think of it like a slightly slower interceptor with more hull and more firepower, and you won't be so unhappy. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif)
