Title: Athena cockpit obscures HUD; how to diable cockpit?

Call me a purist, but I'm not a fan of the cockpit graphics.

I've just started the first mission in the Athena bomber (stopping the Taranis in Ikeya) and the job is to knock out subsystems. One problem: the new Athena cockpit graphics renders the bottom left and bottom right corners of the 2D HUD totally un-usable.

I can't find a check-box or anything to disabled it. Anyone got a precise how-to to stop cockpit graphics from appearing?

Where did you get a cockpitted Athena? Oh, nevermind. There's a fancy uncockpitted Athena behind the Useful stuff link, if you want to try that. Just extract the files from the archive to their respective places in your \fsport\data folder.

But you said to add those files to my install before! The files from HTL_Athena.7z  are in //freespace2/fsport/data ...

Or are we talking about a different file here?

Me too. Well, I'll be damned. Damn this XP and the whole reinstallation procedure. I used to have an Athena that was just like this one, excluding the cockpit view, but I lost it during a complete reinstall. Oh, bum grapes. Looks like it's back to searching the lost Athena once again.

Ah-ha! Thank the gods for IRC!

< Wanderer> you would need to reset the option in ships.tbl or in the tbm
< Wanderer> ie. copy the old one. remove "show ship" from the flags and save the new file with the exact same name into mods data\tables dir

Couple that tidbit with the info from Lobo about what file(s) to look through, I sussed it. It was in the file 'Athena-shp.tbm'

MAN, i hate editing text files to change settings!

And now, back to the hunt!

Well, age is relative. Or something. In any case, now that I noticed, enjoy your custom title.

Edit: Yeah, just uploaded a 'fixed' version of the Athena to Useful stuff. That ought to do it.
