Title: Adiuvate Mobius! (Help Mobius!)
Post by: Mobius on October 14, 2007, 11:50:17 am
I have a problem that is definitely preventing me from working at INFA and testing campaigns for the FSCRP.  :(

I don't have an audio card at the moment, and without audio I feel handicapped.  :doubt:

I managed to reinstall a video card so I can play FS and run FRED, but I need "the other half". The Microsoft Driver Bus(or something similar)is missing, I need it to install an audio card. I have a HP Pavilion t3225.it.

Can you help me? Thanks in advance!

the curiosity is that

says

Onboard audio or audio card   Integrated Intel High Definition (TM) audio (Azalia)
Realtek ALC 882 CODEC
THX certification support

8-channels for Full Dolby 5.1/6.1/7.1 surround sound support with Dolby Pro Logic IIx

are you definitely sure? AFAIK no mboard after 2000 or so has sound onboard...

I had problems with my computer during the past summer. It's a miracle I have my missions safe.

There were most drivers, but I had to reinstall them all. I had no problems with the video card, but I need that Bus for the audio card.

aha... a driver problem...

you may need this first

if you use WinXPSP2

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/888111/en-us (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/888111/en-us)

http://www.mrkenny.de/extern/planet3dnow/kb888111xpsp2.exe (http://www.mrkenny.de/extern/planet3dnow/kb888111xpsp2.exe)

an then the audio drivers from the HP site...

but that is important... look in "System" in your "system control" menu..

"This Computer System is not supported. Installation canceled."

That's what it says when I try to install the driver.

but that is important... look in "System" in your "system control" menu..

Can you be more specific? Italian translations of folders and programs aren't the exact translation of their English versions...

Translations make things a bit difficult but you can find out some **** if you open the 'System' part from the Control panel. In XP's case it should show you what Service Pack you have installed.

Got it ;)

I have...the Service Pack 2.

control panel (pannello di controllo)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:ControlpanelXPClassic.PNG

choose -> system (Ssstema?)

in the window that opens you can read "Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack ?"

the "?" should be "2"  :)

Already done. "Pannello di controllo" ---> "Sistema"...I have the SP2 :)

Good, that's up to date, then. I was just thinking... I'm not an expert (even though I am the helpdesk of our family) but that part about Microsoft Driver Bus sounds like you're missing something more than just drivers. Something quite critical. The only solutions I can suggest are a) a remedial (/fixing/repairing) installation of XP or b) a full reinstallation of XP. I saw similar things on the screen a while back when I was doing a reinstall.

ok, Service Pack 2 but the italian version... damned windows  :(

this should work, but all the audio drivers have to be deinstalled before installing KB888111

No chance of getting it with a driver?

Does reinstalling XP mean losing most options I set(and possibly many other things)?

this should work, but all the audio drivers have to be deinstalled before instannling KB888111

Uh-huh...

Quite scaring. I don't have that KB888111 thing...I'll try to install it in a moment(I have to close all applications and programs).

A complete reinstall will indeed first wipe your hard drive clean, before actually installing the operating system again. So you'd lose everything you have only on your hard drive (kids, always remember to back up your data). That's why I'm hoping the repairing installation would do the trick since it should only install the components that are malfunctioning, without formatting the hard drive.

Should Mobius be in the nominative case?

Oh Jesus! Latin Grammar!

Mobius è nominativo, genitivo, dativo, accusativo, vocativo e ablativo.

Many foreigner names didn't have cases. I'd hate stuff like "Mobium", "Mobie", "Mobis", etc. etc.

:P

I'll be shutting up now so the problem can be solved. Get reinstalling, Mob... :nervous:

I need the Microsoft Bus Driver if I want to install the audio card.

Are you refering to this summer's "accident"? It was caused by an energy failure.

Go on your computers site, or Micro**** and try to search for the driver.
Don't reinstall yet.

AFAIK, M$ doesn't manufacture system bus drivers... Intel, on the other hand...

Mobius, can you attach a CPU-Z HTML report so these guys can take a look?

Sorry for pushing the train further into the derail, but I think Mobius should be accusative, as it's an imperative to help Mobius. Adiuvate Mobium! And I still have to learn 4 pages of Latin within an hour.. :(

I know, I know! But "Mobium" is horrible! And there are many names that maintained the original form without being "declinati"! Mobius works fine!

This is not going to help.

I asked for some directives, do I really have to reinstall WXP? Is there a way to do it legally?

Why do you ask? Do you have a not so legal version of XP or what? Reinstalling it is not illegal or anything. I did it a while back. Actually I did it twice since on the first attempt I encountered some fatal error issues, that I deduced to be the fault of Antivir after the second reinstall. And no, nothing illegal happened. Everything worked. You only need to activate it again after reinstalling it but there's nothing intimiidating about it, if you installed it on the same computer where it used to be.

So...should I backup all files, too?

Ah, something interesting:

Quote
Run-time error '339':

Component 'RICHX32.OCX' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid

I get this error message whenever I try to open Table View. It doesn't appear to be connected to a missing audio card...

Yes, it is advisable to back up all your documents, work files, music, pictures, videos, possibly savegame files, FS pilots and such. Also it is good to make sure you know where to get each of the programs you use since you have to install them after installing XP (duh).

And don't ask me about that error message. I have absolutely no idea about what it means.

So I need 269275981748 DVDs and save everything I have there?

Wow...

Well, if you have any web space from magazine subscriptions, you can upload stuff there, too. Also, if you 7-zip your files, the need for DVDs might drop into 269275980000. Take it or leave it.

Or, get one or more external HDs and punch everything there.

That's what I will probably do, but I want to know your opinion about that other problem(the TBLView one) since TableView has apparently nothing to do with audio and there might be other problems...

Well, that sounds like a registry error, but that's all I know. My knowledge on the Windows registry is limited to using Wise Registry Cleaner. Which, in turn, merely scans the registry and removes unnecessary entries.
Title: Re: Adiuvate Mobius! (Help Mobius!)
Post by: Mobius on October 21, 2007, 05:35:16 am
I have never touched the registry(well, I did it once, when I had problems with my FreeSpace launchers).
