Title: Ai_profiles weirdness
Post by: Warp Shadow on October 15, 2007, 07:46:19 pm
No matter what I do to the Ai_profiles.tbl, nothing changes at all in game. The default name is the same as the profile name of the first profile and it's in the right folder. What gives? Oh and while we're on that subject, when I try to use a .pcx file for a @Laser bitmap, it gives me an error saying "cannot load model file <none> but it works with dds files. Can someone tell me what is going on?

Well, I don't know anything about this stuff.
Mabye one of the "professionals" hasn't seen this yet.

Maybe insert a copy of your table?  And if you're changing the profile name, you're updating the profile in FRED?  I think that's a required step in that case.  Tempest has done a lot with it, get a hold of him maybe.

'Default' setting refers to the ai profile that is set for a mission when it making is started in fred. So if you want to use a AI profile you'll have to change the profile name in the FRED/mission file too.

Is the PCX file in 8 bit format as others wont do... And out of interest.. why would you like to use PCX for images?

it is also essential not to name modified profile FS2 RETAIL.

Ok. I changed it to something different and it works fine now, even though I had it selected in FRED the whole time... whatever. Thanks! :D Oh and the reason I want PCX is just as a placeholder as DDS compression is a pain in the ass if you have to do iy every time you make a minor tweak to an image and you want to see how it looks in game.
