Title: GameSpot rocks!
Post by: colecampbell666 on October 19, 2007, 03:07:53 pm
Go on GameSpot. Search "best game ever". Click "sort by score". Look at the third game on the list. :D

I don't see it?  What'd you do, exactly?

Enter 'best game ever' into the search bar, then select Sort by Score for the results.

It's FreeSpace 2, isn't it? ;)

Ah... I had some of its necessary sites blocked with FlashBlock... I've got it now...  ;)  OH, and BTW, I notice the title of the game right above it, too.

The article (http://www.gamespot.com/features/6139782/index.html?om_act=convert&om_clk=newsfeatures&tag=newsfeatures;title;1) was pretty good, there.  :D

Hmm, three of my favorite games: Metroid Prime, Halo: Combat Evolved, and Freespace 2*

*(note, not in order of favorites)

No surprise, Starcraft's on the list too.

I have to wonder where Ocarina of Time is, but other than that it is an excellent list. I'm a bit surprised that Prime out-scored Halo... surprised, but not thinking that it is wrong.

Linky (http://www.gamespot.com/search.html?type=11&stype=all&tag=search%3Bbutton&om_act=convert&om_clk=search&qs=best+game+ever&x=0&y=0#game) for the lazy.  :p

Pfft!  They didn't include the first (and most likely best ever) 6DOF shooter.  :eek2:

Prime was a good game, but not better than Halo, or FS.

I'm glad to know that Freespace 2 will always be remembered as one of the best games ever--especially after 8 years. It'd be great if Interplay would get smart and re-release Freespace 2 on the market. Even pricing it at $20 for a box, CD, and abbreviated manual would net them many sales. All they'd need to do is buy some advertising space at the retailers and call it "the best game you've never heard of" and cite GameSpot's high ranking and ultra-high reviews. If they make sure its 100% compatible with Vista (very little in the way of changing it) and unlock higher-resolutions, it'd sell well. The entire thing looks awesome--and there's plenty of room for improvement (as seen by SCP).

What if we asked them to do so but with us as the 'development' studio? It would be a very, very far off suggestion in terms of feasability but you never know, I'd love to see it happen.

... I take that back. When money is involved, everything goes to hell.

Remember we want :v: as the development studio. I wouldn't want any of our SCP to net money--it starts the entire thing for all the wrong reasons.

Is it possible? The programming teams(or part of them) oftentimes change. Just look at Crash Bandicoot and Final Fantasy. There could be a FS3 non made by :v:

Yeah, I thought about it for a moment after making that rather impulsive response. Ah well, I suppose we'd have to wait for :v: but then again, you never really know whether they'll do it again.
