I am make a scout ship.
About the size of a argo.
So, what do you think?

Argo not included. :D

GTSs Hebrus?
-
To be honest... IMHO it looks like a short piece of ventilation tubing... ...as it lacks all surface features apart from the grooves. Wings? Turret bases? Bridge? Antennae? Blisters? Tubing on the side of the ship? Something?

I am make a scout ship.
I am think it not look enough detail. It look no like real ship.

Sorry, that was at night when I typed it.
It is still a W.I.P.
-
Stuff added.
It already had a bridge.

What is the use for the grooves?
-
It needs something sticking out of the side, for balance. It can be asymmetrical, but it lacks weight and visual balance.
-
What is the use for the grooves?
It is extra armor.
-
Look a bit unusual to me...
-
Would you rather this?

Yes. But with a few other details.
-
i think the grooves just waste polys, sorry. but still, it looks good.

With the Titan here.

The part that points down after the thiner area in the body needs wings coming off of it. ill draw somthing up in paint, 1 sec
Edit: here it is, you dont have to make it exactly like that but it would look more SOCish like that, especially if you add some nice texturing and maybe have a few antennas coming from the back of the wings, make it look rough and dark kinda like the Erinyes

It is a terran capship.(Argo size)
It does not need wings.
It does not need to be SOC.
If it is the size of an argo then why does it nee to look like an Erinyes?
-
Note, I will still work on the ribbed one because I like it so much better.
New one!

About the first one. Details are added to make things look functional and realistic, not just for the sake of editing to raise the poly count. The ribbed one looks a) stupid and b) impractical. Extra armor? What's the point in having "ribbed" extra armor? If you're armoring it, why not armor it with a proper hull plating rather than... Ribbed stuff.
The other version. What's the point in the triangular things?
BTW, if I'm sounding critical here or stupid, I'm sorry since I'm just trying to give advice. You don't need to follow my suggestions, they're just my opinion on this thing.

I think what I said on sectorgame about your previous model even moreso applies to this one - there's just not enough shape for it to be a ship in my mind. Sure it can be nicely greebled, but if it has no shape it's not going to do a lot of good. In fact to be totally honest it far more reminds me of the sort of greeble you might find attached to a bigger ship than a ship in its own right - as Wanderer has said, a piece of tubing or somesuch.
If you look at the FS ships, none of them with the exception of the terran cargo crates is as simple in shape as the ship you have here. They have extrusions, indents, curves, angles, fins, engine pods, rotating bits, docking ports, arms, holes, spindly bits, bridges, superstructures, fighterbays, landing strips, towers and just generally....stuff.
You seem pretty competant with greeble making already, so I'd definitely suggest you try focussing more on design features now.
If you find it difficult to come up with designs in the modelling program, come up with them on paper - just doodle with angles and shapes until you end up with something that looks like a ship. That way you'll find it far easier to actually model it. :)

/me agrees with the VA, who's word is law

Ventilator Tube AdvancedTM ;)
mmm.. it needs more things sticking out, like all the fin things in canon FS2 ships, other wise it sort of looks like a flying piece of...well, you saw above :nervous:
but then again, scout ships weren't designed to look good.
Sorry if I offended anyone, no harm meant.
-
None of the ships were designed to look good........ they need streamlining to look good.
-
 Please explain.
You mean they need to be more swept back and not so blocky?
-
It's about making it look like a ship - not making it look pretty (ie, streamlined). Ie, the Millenium Falcon was not a pretty ship, but it was looked very ship-like, and was awesome because of that. I quite like ugly looking ships if they look and feel like a ship.
The point here is that at least to me, this does not at all feel like a ship yet.
-
Grooves like that are good for compartmentalizing damaging, ala battlestar galactica like. Idk why a scoutship would need such grooves anyway, it'd get blown out of the sky considering it's a scout. So, it probably has tons of speed and perhaps maybe stealth to avoid getting blown up.

The orion isnt exactly pretty yet its my favorite ship in the game just for looking so ugly :D As far as fighters go im gonna have go with the ares (shape wise of course not texture wise) i cant wait til we get an HTL ares :(
