Hey , me again :D
Is there a way someone could make/already made a Freespace game for a mobile phone ? Haha , I know it sounds silly , but still . Maybe there's some program that people can make game for mobile phones ? Cause I'd like to see FreeSpace on my mobile phone . ;)

I think that might be slightly outside the scope of possibility.
-
Well, depends. A fake 3D version should be hard to create while a normal 2D game is possible if you know Java or stuff like that.
-
I think this would be nigh on impossible without seriously comprimising a lot of the actual gameplay. You'd probably lose craft selection, loadout and loads of the missions.
-
Within the limitations of reality there would be the option of a Space Invaders clone, where you'd bravely fight off row after row of Shivan fighters with your handy Herc.
-
Could they create a Wing Commander 1/2 style on a phone? Imagine how bad freespace ships would look Doom 2d style
-
Well you could make a crappy remake of solarwolf, space invaders, asteroids, or if you were looking for something fun on a phone, you could do sort of a freespace remake of starfighter (http://www.parallelrealities.co.uk/starfighter.php).
-
A mobile phone version of FreeSpace would look like a simple version of FreeSpace1 , with graphics that look like they're made by using MS Paint ( and from what I've seen - ms paint FreeSpace ships don't look that bad . Even in 2d ) .
And I have NO IDEA how to make something in Java . :sigh:
-
You don't want to learn how to make something in java. I barely know how to make stuff in java, and i don't plan on going any further than that or even using it (reminds me of learning russian souly because of my ex).
The ms paint fs2 artists so need to step forward. I too have seen some very good looking stuff come from mspaint, and with said artists behind it, you'd have a good looking game.

Phones are many times less powerful than computers, and virtually all computers would have issues with Freespace 2 Open without graphics cards. Even vanilla Freespace takes up many more resources than any cellphone I know of has to offer. Any 3D games you find on a cellphone are probably fake 3D i.e. a 2D game made to look 3D.
-
What ?
I know that games on phones are much more simple and need less power than a PC game does .
-
You might want to look at something similar to 1942 or a side scroller.
-
What about Desktop FreeSpace, cell phone edition?
-
Something like a side scroller would be pretty good for a mobile phone game . But the problem is - how to make it ?
