Found these buried in my archives ;7... thought you might like them: (stretched thumbnails, clicky for ~ 3000x1500 pix shots, link to all of them in an archive at the end).

All-in-one .zip: 38.5 MB, Uploading... (to MediaFire; if you want it upped elsewhere, let me know where) EDIT: done (http://www.mediafire.com/?fxjv01vygjw).
Let me know what you think, guys.
EDIT2: Here's (http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=e15c2132242f4a3291b20cc0d07ba4d25715d81729dd67a6) the folder on MediaFire where I uploaded everything... might be a bit nicer than TinyPic, which is what the thumbnails lead to.
EDIT3: I can't seem to get MF to accept stillbrief01.jpg... I'll try later. Regardless, the tinypic version and the .zipped version work. Oh, and don't use [lvlshot][/lvlshot] inside [url][/url] tags... it doesn't work. Instead you must use ye olde [img][/img] tags.
EDIT4:
OK, M04R shots 4 you:
here (http://www.mediafire.com/?1x1xmawzn1o). Will upload thumnails etc later... I'll attach one for now. ;)

:bump: New mainhall?

Crap... I got the order all screwed up. :hopping: If you click the pictures, they aren't the correct ones. :sigh: I'll fix it later. Just use the MediaFire folder for now.

Fixed now. Srry about that. All thumbnails now direct to the pictures they are supposed to.
EDIT: I got them from Voliton Watch or somesuch... these are no longer hosted there, AFAIK.
EDIT2: http://www.descent-freespace.com/goodies/gallery/big/ <- as I said, no longer there. :( They're (descent-freespace) dead now.
-
He got them from here. http://web.archive.org/web/20050329054804/www.descent-freespace.com/goodies/gallery/
Nothing but a shadow archive these days.

Hmm, whaddya know, the web archive actually hosts the HQ renders, as well as the thumbnails... that's nice of them.
EDIT: Oh... no, I didn't get them from the archive. I downloaded them when the site was still up, burned them to DVD, and haven't remembered where I stuck them as I didn't label that DVD. *d'uh!*
-
If I were you, I'd back up all those pages. You never know when that thing is going to stop loading the images.

Sounds like a good idea... but I'll have to do it later... that site is slooow. But good
-
Someone who has a really fast internet MUST get all of those pictures from that site ( this one : http://web.archive.org/web/20050329054804/www.descent-freespace.com/goodies/gallery/ (http://web.archive.org/web/20050329054804/www.descent-freespace.com/goodies/gallery/) ) , put them in a zip , and upload somewhere safe . Like SectorGame , or Hades-Combine .

I'm using the Bastion one for my desktop :D
Can you get pics about FS2? They must be better!
-
Thanks to Comcast cable and FlashGot, here is a 7z with all of these images:
http://files.filefront.com/Renders7z/;8933894;/fileinfo.html (http://files.filefront.com/Renders7z/;8933894;/fileinfo.html) (56 MB)
Might be worth placing on the nukelol mirror.
-
Thanks for the link, Nelson. Those pics are just fantastic! The only bad thing is...that the models aren't cockpitted! :P
-
It is unfortunate that the Apollo used in the FS1 intro is not available. I wonder how many polygons it was? :)
-
Black Dove where the **** have you been?
-
A Mobius(read "Infinite")number of polygons. But it was a bomber variant...
Who knows if we can find the music files Nix needs in one of these archives?
-
I remember those... I would sit there looking at all the computer consoles for hours.
-
Wonder if there are high-res cutscenes hidden away somewhere? There'd have to be, they wouldn't just do one random frame.
-
Of course there is, hidden away on some rotting data tape somewhere.
-
Didn't :v: say that they had data recovery specialists working on those?
-
They said they were considering it. And yeah, they did rot a little. :(
-
uuurggh! I hate Shima and the Bastion! Her fighter bay/Hall area looks better than my Galatea!
Granted it's now my wallpaper...[/size]
-
I remember waiting HOURS to download these over 56k off of that website. Christ. I was like 10 years old.
-
What year would these renders have been made by Volition? These things are almost on par with today's next gen consoles/current pc games, some of them not just almost...
-
So are their any more then that from back in the v DAYS? I never seen most of these renders that good looking, or that big. Saved every one shown on first post.
-
:necro:
Yes, there are, but most of them are not that high-res. And they are disappearing quickly...
-
:bump:
Those images look more like they came from the Descent Network. I've got some super-high resolution Descent: FreeSpace images from that site in my backup CDs, but don't ask me to go and find them (because I'm shifting house). :ick:
-
I found something awesome which most people forgot about if they forgot exactly the same stuff I forgot about. I'm uploading it now, but my connection is abnormally slow.
http://www.game-warden.com/masterpokey/FS1/FS1Stuffs.zip
It's got PROMO.exe, Run-16s.exe, and that colored head anim.
-
...Ah, those were on the Silent Threat CDs? Or the Descent/Conflict: FreeSpace CDs? I forget.

Probably Silent Threat (cue supersecret folder) if you ask me. :nervous:
-
Promo.exe is from the Descent: FreeSpace CD (I can't remember which disk) and Run-16s.exe and the head anim are from the silent thread cd.

What is Promo.exe?
-
A video that promoted Fs2. I think it's the same one that was played when you installed it.

do it when you're done. please.

Sure, but you'll have to wait till mid-June, unfortunately. :blah:
