Hey,
I use FS2Open, Build fs2_open_3_6_9.exe - mediavps mod -standalone, not installed on-top of FS2 retail.
When I start a game, it lacks the dots of ships in radar range - regardless of the range and I can´t see which secondary weapon is selected - see attachment.
It doesn´t help to select NO mod - same prob. However, when i select the 3D radar in the launcher, I get the friend/foe dots, but the arrows on secondary weapons still don´t appear.
In my "old Retail" FS2, i have no such lacks.
What could that be?

set Language to English in the registry.

Yeaha - thanks, setting to english helped!

I've just taken a look at the full-size image, and I think your weapon selection indicator was partway through the last directive.
It's not quite so useful over there...

Quite frankly it's pretty stupid that we have to tell German users to set the language to English for something as trivial as this. Is this bug in code or data?
Cause as said before Retail didn't do this.

picking up from nvsblmnc, you also can see one inside the message which says
"w>rden"
My guess is, that Geronimoxon was using double shot of secondary.
Also, if you look really carefully in the radar, you see no 2x or 8x or the infinte sign next to the radar.

Yeah but the issue is whether this is a problem caused the TStrings.tbl in Turey's installer being different from the one in the German retail version or whether the SCP have cocked something up.
Since I don't have the original German table (well I do but I'm not 100% certain it's the most up to date one) I've never been able to determine what is the cause.
-
What if you just extracted the retail table to the tables file?
EDIT: Have you noticed that most of the shapes appear when the characters are:
ö ü ä
EDIT2: Actualy, all of the them contain the three characters. What if you remove them somehow? Or is it even compatible with FS Open?

That would work too but it's a more complicated solution as you have to get hold of root_fs2.vp in order to extract the table in the first place. Not to mention that the strings.tbl is also older in 1.0 IIRC.
