This is regarding a mod I found on Hades-Combine.
Where do I put the .dds files to complete the reskin? I've looked everywhere except the 'smarty_fs2.vp', because VPview can't open it. I don't even see ANY .dds files anywhere else. IF they're in this .vp file, what's wrong with it?
Also, anyone have any pictures of it? I don't wanna go through a lot of trouble if it's not better than the original skin.
Thanks for any help.

Just put dds files on data\maps
-
There is no such folder....
-
The full path (assuming default install) will be c:\games\freespace2\data\maps.
If that folder isn't there, just create it.

ursa reskin? and i've noticed that too, why cant you open smarty?

Well, I did that, and there was nothing different about the Ursa. Oh well.

Try QuickVP. If that doesn't open it, you've probably killed the file with some bizarre method.
-
whats quickVP? an upgrade over VPview or an alternative?
-
An alternative. Can be found from the Wiki.

Hah, it's much improved. If you take side-by-side screenshots, it has a bit of dirt and crap on it as opposed to the original Ursa skin which was sparkly clean. It is also more detailed.

I tried that, and it was able to open it..... but the file names were all garbled (funny shapes and letters), the file sizes were all in NEGATIVES, and one of the files had a listed creation date of Dec. 29, 1980!

:wtf:
Actually, now that I've checked, smarty_fs2.vp contains the intelanims, so you could just leave it alone. It won't do any good for you. Unless it's really broken and you can't see any funny animations in the Tech room.
