I finally got tired of the target brackets not matching up in my monitor's default resolution, so I set the resolution in the Launcher's video tab to 1280 x 1024. Although everything now matches up, the screen is stretched. Not by a lot, just enough to be noticeable, especially if I'm rotating at all.
So I am wondering if there is a way to tell the program not to adjust to fit the monitor? I don't care if it makes black bars show up on the sides of the screen, I'd just like everything to look normal!

You could try using your monitor controls to resize it yourself. Or you could try using a 16:9 resolution like 1280x720 which shouldn't stretch the image. The resolution you're using seems like it's for a different aspect ratio. Assuming you have a widescreen monitor which is what it sounds like then try the resolution i have here (if fs doesn't like that one, then it'll probably let you get away with 1280x768 which should be a widescreen resolution too).
-
Ok, image isn't stretched, but now the brackets don't line up again. I wonder if that ratio isn't the one the system defaults to upon encountering a widescreen monitor...
I'll look into other options...
-
Idk what's with the brackets not lining up. It's an odd thing to happen really. The brackets not lining up soley upon using a different resolution boggles the mind. Idk if people have had fixes for it yet, but definitely search hlp to see what people used to cure the problem or rather fix it as best as they could.
-
Might be worth checking your monitor's menus - some have the option to switch to 4:3. (At least mine does :nervous:)
-
It's a well known problem. SCP 3.7 may have widescreen support (IIRC it was in the roadmap).
There is no-known solution for the issue so far. You may keep an eye on Nuke an WMCoolmon though, as they made a lot of scripts that were dealing with the interface...
...maybe you could help them by playtesting their scripts, who knows, they could churn out a new targeting bracket+reticle script for widescreen resolutions.

Widescreen sucks. Get a 4:3 monitor and you'll solve two problems in one go.
-
I only got bracket issues sometimes...go figure :P (And I got wisdescreen)
-
well i'm on nVidia and the same's probably for ATI
go to your graphics card control panel and look around for an option to maintain fixed aspect ratio
-
Or just choose the 'window mode'.

No it doesen't! You do not see the truth.
Thou shallest not curseth the allmightee Widescreen!

It's more like badly designed widescreens that can't do any internal aspect scaling suck. :p You want to avoid relying on the graphics drivers if possible, since the scaling features get broken and fixed regularly between driver versions.
If all else fails, you can try connecting the monitor over VGA. Most LCDs have options to resize/reposition the screen but only on VGA, and the quality difference won't be very noticeable at lower resolutions. You can use the size controls to squish the image horizontally so that it looks normal again.

I had that problem the first time around. Never did fix it, though it didnt occur untill I switched from the default 600:800. New harddrive (lost my last one) and now the stupid thing wont even fire up.
-
I hate that, my monitor seems to have and not have the 4:3 aspect switching for my screen. It tends to be dependent on which program i'm running. While zsnes will have a correct 4:3 aspect, many of my other programs will not at full screen. But, yeah, lol, the targetting bracket thing is really odd still.
-
I had mine working again for some time, 1024x768 seems to do it for me. Though, I'm on a 15.4" Laptop LCD.

Don't bump old threads, and a 3.6.10 build will fix this.
-
Damn! That's the biggest bump I've seen except for Aardwolf's All-in-One a while ago.
-
Sorry, no dates.... It was a problem I was having again. my .10 isn't working quite right yet, still playing with graphics issues. Mostly my machine I think.
-
Dates show up at the top of each post. It's not a big deal, though, everybody bumps by accident at least once.
-
Which .10 build do you have?
-
The new one that's very screwed up at the moment...
-
3.6.10 RC3 is not screwed up. It's very stable.
Your problems on that other thread will be sorted out but they're not due to the build.
-
The new one that's very screwed up at the moment...
Concidering that a very minimal percentage of RC3 users has problems and that your problems are the most severe, it is safe to assume that it is your computer that is very screwed up at the moment.
-
I was referring specifically to my case. Should have worded that more clearly....sorry!
-
Nuff said, especially since the code fixed this problem too. Thread close.....

Would there be any way to put the HUD back to normal, while I don't have any issues with the brackets circles are instead wide ovals.
