SCP is the only thing working for me , but my computer isn't powerfull enough for the mediavps . I can use 1-2 at a time though . :)

Almost everyone here uses the SCP at the very least, if not the media_vps too. :)

Hmm.. you should make an automated graph to keep track of retail / SCP / possibly mod downloads, over the months. *shrugs* if you feel like it. :)

well i have played the game and some fan made campaigns for freespace without SCP but when i found SCP (even if the guis here had to bare with me for about 2 days till i managed to get it up and running) it was like discovering another FreeSpace (no i'm not talking about you know what.....im just saing that it felt at that point like FS was reborn to me at least! )
also i was wondering if new weapons effects could be inclueded into FS something like making an enire beam cannon fire beam thing look like the things that blob turrets usualy fire. I mean make it so that an entire beam output or part of it could be done to look like the shooting from a blobturret. Sorry i just like artilery fire the way it looks sometimes and i was just wondering if such complicated modifications could be done to FS ?

You want to use beams, but make them look like blob turret fire? In the name of all that's holy, why?!!
Besides, "Blob" turrets don't even look like blobs anymore if you're using the MediaVPs.

well beams that like like blob fire only faster and a lot bigger would look awesome in a bradside battle between 2 ships. I mean beam cannons are awesome there is nothing like it in any game i believe but on the other hand they last too little! :( It was just an idea and a question.

You mean like in the nexus tech demo? That would be cool, but I doubt that could be implemented considering it would require a lot of coding...

Wouldn't it be easier and more practical to just make blob turret fire larger, faster, and more damaging if that's the overall look you're going for? Beams don't have a travel time, just an animation cycle, and it would quite frankly be really weird to watch damage effects play while the projectile is still in transit, or to get blown out of the sky by the invisible part of the beam when you can clearly see the projectile was nowhere near you.
You can already change table info on blob turrets to make them a far more effective weapon, no need to make things complicated if all you really want is a more potent laser barrage. You'd just need to update the graphics then.

EDIT: and yeah, you can change the fire rate and speed of blob turrets, I think that's what you're after... the "beam" effects would better be served by making the actual FS beams of a shorter duration, and smaller width.
