Title: SCP on HOTU
Post by: jingy on November 18, 2007, 03:19:00 pm
Hello,

I have just recently got a copy of FS2 from HOTU, and then installed SCP using Turey's installer. Then I realized that HOTU is not the full game as it is missing cutscenes and some other parts. I have already got the cutscenes. I am wondering if the SCP will make FS2 the "full" game or do I have to look for those other parts too? Thanks.

:welcomered:

The HotU version is the full 1.2 version of FS2, minus the cutscenes. If you use Turey's Installer over it, it will merely get you the cutscenes, the SCP and the graphical improvements. Basically, the HotU version is enough for playing FS2, but if you want the cutscenes as well as the mindblowing graphical improvements, use the Installer. Of course, after that you can check out the Useful Stuff link from my signature and download some extra extra content if you want to.

Assuming you have the ~600MB version not the much older ~250MB version. If you have the latter version delete and start from scratch.

The website only has the newer version but from time to time someone pops up who got a Torrent from who knows where with the old version. :)

Dang. I always forget that option. Then again, I remember seeing people who've recently downloaded FS2 from HotU but are convinced that they're missing important files because of what is said in your FAQ, which by the way is still outdated. No offence, of course. A great FAQ from a great man, but that particular part actually mislead me back when I became aware of SCP.

@kaj, they could use the MD5 troubleshooter Huggybaby and I cooked up (see my sig)... I've got to update it to reflect the non-corrupted smarty_fs2, though.

EDIT: Done.

We need to get some association with HotU. I tried to make an account so I could comment on FS with links to the SCP, but I couldn't register.

As far as I can tell HOTU is in Limbo it hasn't been updated for ages.

The whole site (http://www.the-underdogs.info/). Note that the last activity, at least on the What's new section, is from 13-01-2006.

Maybe the admin got assassinated by Interplay's secret agents for hosting FS.

I think the site would have gone down a long time ago if Interplay was actually pissed off by the distribution of FS2. As for the admin, I'm guessing it's just a bad case of EVVK (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EVVK).
