There seems to be something wrong with the Derelict mod and/or my setup. When I go to weapon loadout for the very first mission, there are NO guns whatsoever on my fighter, nor can I select any. Sure enough, when I start the mission - no guns, just some fairly weak missiles.
Is that on purpose? I know we're supposed to be using old, broken equipment, but this has to be a bug, right?
I can post a screenshot of the loadout screen if it would help.
FWIW, I'm running this under Windows XP, and I have FS2 Open Launcher 5.5a and SCP version 3.6.9.

One more thing: Other mods - both Cardinal Spear and Cardinal Spear: Vega, and Homesick, work fine. No mysterious missing guns.
-
That is indeed a bug.
Did you get the SCP-ified version (by Blaise Russel) or the original?
-
SCP-ified version. So says the readme.txt.

And you've installed it correctly, right? Meaning that Derelict is in its own subfolder in the root freespace directory? And you've selected Derelict as your mod via the Launcher? It really sounds like you've messed things up since every time you put some files into the wrong place, some table files override the correct ones, and the result is no weapons and no ships.

Assuming the installation is correctly made (as in, separate mod folder like ..\FreeSpace2\Derelict\ and soforth), first thing I would suggest is to make (or clone) a new pilot and see what happens, then move to more eccentric possibilities such as what exactly you have in Derelict folder, and what you have as derelicts in, say, main data folder, and what youu're using the Derelict with - newest MediaVP's might be different from those that were when Derelict was SCP-ified.
In most cases this kind of thing tends seem to be caused by pilot corruption or some user-induced conflict with some tables not getting along with each other, but obviously the chance for it being a real honest bug as well.
-
I unzipped Derelict into its own subfolder within my FS2 SCP directory - same way I've done with every other campaign.
Who knows, maybe a fresh SCP install would help. I'm not going to do it for one campaign, however. Maybe later, when I've played everything else.
FWIW, creating a new pilot did not help. Same problem.

Check your \freespace\data\tables and \freespace\mediavps\data\tables folders to be sure that there aren't any rogue tables there. Also, do you have a proper mod.ini file in the Derelict folder? I'm throwing some really wild guesses here but it might cause something if you don't have a mod.ini file there or if it refers to a mediavps folder that has a different name than yours.

try to remove fsport .vs files from main directory

Re-downloading Derelict SCP and unzipping it to a new folder seems to have fixed things. I have primary weapons in the first mission, so I think I must have just installed something wrong - or it was corrupted in the download - last time.
Also, I noticed that creating a new pilot often fixes problems with not having primary weapons or a ship. I just wish I could figure out how to use the super-high-detail fighter models with every mod, without b0rking the missions. Some mods, such as Cardinal Spear, use them just fine, while others, such as Sync and Transcend, get messed up if I try to use them.
Something must be overwriting or monkeying with something else when I try to do that.
I don't really understand the function of the "multimods" section in the mod.ini file. For instance, when you populate the "secondarylist=" field with folder names - presumably, they have to be folders in one's main FS2 program folder - what does it do exactly?
