Title: Any way to get a model into FS1?
Post by: Mustang19 on November 24, 2007, 10:39:26 pm
Trying to get the FSport Angel to run in FS1. Yeah, I know, I should be working on TVWP/SoL instead of something as stupid and trivial as this. But I noticed that although there are many conversion utilities to turn a COB into an FS2 POF, FS1 uses a different type of POF apparently and I haven't found a single tool that will create one. There has to be one, right? Modelview is supposed to build FS1 POFs but it crashes when told to. If there really is no solution, no big deal, I'll just use the Valk minus a gun rack.

there were converters for fs1. but they faded into obscurity. and as i recall alot of stuff had to be manually entered with a hex editor.

Modelview can "save as fs1 .pof" if you have it as a fs2 .pof. It's worked fine for me in the past. Just remember: no HTL so nothing with large amounts of polies goes in.

Thanks, I'll take some polys off and try Modelview again.

Voila.

Hey, thanks again.  You somehow got Modelview to do it?

By the way, the HTL isn't a problem. In fact, the Angel uses PCX textures and has about 50 polys less than the Valk.

Yup.  Just opened it up and resaved in FS1 format.  I've never had any problems doing it that way.
