Hello Guys,
I have a weird truespace problem, maybe someone can help me ?
I have a model (3ds file) done in Max (not sure which version though). When I open the model in truespace I have the textures completly overblended like seen in the image below (lower model) . That makes it extrem difficult for me to correct the tilling of the texture (above you can see another model made completly by me in truespace, and no problems there).
That blending effect is somehow related to the UV-Space, when I destroy it the effect is gone. But I want to keep the UV-Space at any costs to save me some extra work.
Before you ask, I have removed all local lights from all model, there are just the truespace standard lights which light up the scene (also noticable on the top model).
Has anyone an idea how to get rid of this blending on the bottom model ?

Hm.mm.. make a cube, texture it with that texture and then apply that texture on the ship. I think it has something to do with the glossiness lvl in 3D max.
If that fails, you can try converting with Lithium Unwrapper.

It's just the shader that the imported mesh will have. To kill it, do this:
1) Click to extend the panel on the right
2) Click to clear whatever current shader there is and reset to the default phong
3) Set these settings as shown
And then re-apply that material to the corresponding material on the ship.

also turn down (or off, i forget if you could) all lights used for heirarchy termination. that usually fixes the problem.

Yeah, that was it. Thanks a lot :) Now I can continue working on that little sucker :)

What version of trueSpace and how did you get a 3D Studio MAX file into it? 6.6 and older can't open MAX files.
-
Max 7, but it was converted to 3ds first then converted to cob.

I have some version of MAX, but I'd prefer another way to convert those files for use in trueSpace. I tried PolyTrans but it made a buggered up mess of most formats I tried to convert to .cob When I hit the button in tS to decompose the meshes into parts (PolyTrans converted them as a single object), it broke it up so that every-single-polygon was a separate piece! USELESS!

Truespace 5.1 (the one I'm using) opens 3ds fine. It's just problematic when I have to texture the model myself, since 3ds is always already triangulated, which means more faces to work with. There is a workaround for this, but it's bug-using and sometimes damages the mesh.
