I talked with IPA and we decided that "b" was needed to avoid "which version" confusion. :shaking:
OK I think I've got the last of the fixes and updates for TBP v3.4b. :)
The big hang up on v3.4b is getting it compiled, the vp editing tools are giving me some trouble. :hopping: (i've already communicated the issues to IPA, we are working on it ;) ) Maybe we can have it sorted in a week or two, real life may cause delays with the holidays and all. :nervous:
So hopefully (but not promising) v3.4b will be out before Christmas ;7
hip63 :p
P.S. - Santa may bring an extra little stocking stuffer too... a TBP DVD :pimp:

cool.
What can we expect for the "b" version ?
-
Nothing new. More stability. Less bugs.
-
If you're compiling the VPs again I recommend not having any VPs with more than 4000 files in it so that tools like ModelView will work with them. BtRL also ran into a few problems with anti-virus and the like which were also most likely due to the large VP size (They never affected the same people using FS2_Open for instance).
-
Look forward to it

and nameplates :D
hip63 :p

the nameplates by skullar will be integrated? great, less file size for my next campaign.
Will we get the new BtrL glide code? PPPLLLEEEAAASSSEEE ??? :nervous: :nervous: :nervous:

Not sure. Karajorma could answer that since he kindly compiled us some new executables.
-
Sw3333t. When it is released, let me know... I'll re-up it to FileFront in my funky way. (turds.. they've got something against files labeled "The Babylon Project" )
Looks like I'll have to use another cypher code rather than Pig Latin... they trashed my Ethay Abylonba Ojectpra 3.4a upload. :p to them. Maybe I'll name it it's own MD5 hash, just to make them sputter.
-
and please ask karajorma and taylorif they can get the no-glowmaps-with-texture-replacement-bug fixed till then.

You got lucky. I didn't have enough space on my hard drive to download the 3.6.9 branch again so I just swapped icons on the BtRL build and compiled that for IP Andrews :D
-
so that means yes?
STRIKE! :) :) :)
-
BtrL

Beyond the Red Line (http://www.game-warden.com/forum/showthread.php?t=3502). The Battlestar Galactica mod.

hmmm.... Thanks Kara as always but to make it clear. My priority is and always has been stability and bug fixes. To that end the AI class bug fix is much, much more important than the BTRL glide code.
-
Yeah, I added that before I compiled it. :)
You should have all the bug fixes you asked for. The BtRL changes were rather minor and by now have been pretty heavily tested anyway. Consider it a bonus.
-
a much appreciated bonus! What exaclty is that AI_Class Bug? The one that let the whitestars be a sitting duck?
-
The one that prevented you from having Vorlon Fighters in missions.
-
And a myriad of other ships actually. About half of them. I was suprised so few people complained about it. Thanks for the builds Kara.
-
is that AI_class bug the reason for FRED's crash every time I set the player's ship to a Drazi Sky Serpent or a shadow fighter, or ... ??? I will need some of those possibilities in the near future...
-
Decided to contribute something to a better TBP, too. It's just a small annoyance but it's that kind of small annoyance that never gets fixed because it's so small. I updated Mission 1 - 4 of the EMW Demo, so the Briefings show the correct ships now, instead of weird bull****.
If you can put that to any use, I will do the same for RaiderWars.
EDIT: Forum says, Upload folder is full. Therefore, I send the file to hip and IP.

You can mail me at [email protected], I think you'll find I updated all the icons in Raider Wars.

Those 3 are courtesy of you?
-
Yes. All very minor changes but it took a week to get around to doing them.
-
Well... IPAndrews, Karajorma, Orpheus, and Skullar... thx much! :D (http://images.devshed.com/fdh/smilies/honorhim.gif)
-
Best way to thank us? Make a campaign :).
-
Err.... heh, maybe someone with some skillz could do that. Any campaign I made would most likely be considered an insult, not thanks. XD :p Either that, or it would be completely awesome... and released in the year 2012. :(
-
The glide changes weren't mine. I think Backslash and Turey were responsible.
-
It's a great change. Looks awesome.
-
Make a campaign :).
Fortune Hunters 2260 is about 60% finished
Dark Children is about 30% finished (had some major problems with FRED concerning some ships, I had to do a lot of work with a text editor, but 3.4b should fix those)
Pawn is 20% finished, mostly concept and early testing. I'll get me some help on this one.
Fortune Hunters 2261 is rougly to 40% finished
Still far to few campaigns if you consider the amount of work YOU did on the whole TBP mod, but still...
Unfortunately, none will be finished for Christmas. Sorry pals, no present from Vidmaster for you.
EDIT: Sorry to mock you again on this, but what's with the Glide_enabled Fury variants? Included too?
Don't rip my head off IP or delecte this post, PLZ! I just love the glide feature.
-
See last entry in earlier post.
-
:) :) :) THANKS! :) :) :)
-
Another important question: Will all those fixes also be available when you use the Inf build? (Do the new Glide codes/AI fix belong to the BtrL.exes ?).
Some missions (including some of mine) have to be played with that build or they make a lot of trouble and no sense.
-
Both builds are identical apart from the compiler switches used.
Oh, I should warn. D3D won't work. You can select it in the launcher but it will simply run OpenGL same as we did for BtRL. The support work needed to tell the few people with a genuine problem with OpenGL to use a specially downloaded D3D enabled build was FAR less than dealing with thousands of people who otherwise wouldn't have read the instructions and would have run it on D3D mode.
I will be sticking a D3D enabled build up on my webspace for the few people who do actually need it.
-
lol I'm hitting myself now. I spent all day yesterday and so far today trying to download TBP 3.4 and the 3.4a update. Will 3.4b be compatible with 3.4a?
-
I guess it will be just a patch...
-
Hey, how is the glide supposed to work in this? I just played BTRL, and it's NOTHING like that. There's no noticable effect at all when I use my "activate glide" key. What am I doing wrong?
-
Maybe you're using the wrong key?
-
IIRC, it's Q... but check to see what your glide key is... get up to speed, and hit the key... is it a toggle, or a momentary switch? Try just pressing it, then changing direction (toggle), or holding it, then changing direction (momentary).
-
It was alt G, I changed it to Alt Q. But Alt Q does nothing. I only tried it as a toggle, though. I'll try it as a momentary thing next. On another note, sliding doesn't work either. I can't thrust up, down or sideways.
-
in 3.4a, Glide ONLY works with the Aurora Starfury. (even the MKI variant cannot glide). This will be changed in 3.4b :)
-

Did it arrive? :nervous: :nervous: :nervous:
-
Just trying to locate Orpheus's updated RW missions. Once I have those we're ready to go with TBP Final 3.4b.
-
For everyone's information 3.4b is complete now and sat on my hard disk. It's all looking very nice. Much more stable than the last release. So thanks to everyone who helped iron out the bugs. I just need to get the files to Hip63, who is likely busy with Christmas as with everyone else. A release then is more likely to happen very early in the New Year. So get your campaign ideas on paper ready for 2008. Merry Christmas all.
-
oh you will be suprised... ;7
-
Final countdown.
