I just finished Blue Planet, and I went to my next fave trilogy, and find ALL ships are black and white painted. No other campaigns are like this. I'll try and re-install them.
-
You got axed into the 50's
"TV with TECHNICOLOR now coming in stores near you!"
-
Can you get us a screenshot?
-
Oh noes!!11 They ran out of paint! :(
-
See what happens when you let the painters go on strike?

OMFG Zebra ships!
-
hah, yes. Zebra ships. I want them gone!
-
On a smaller scale that would make a neat looking fighter pattern.

Possible solution : change to OpenGL ?
And do you have img2dds turned on ?

Possible solution : change to OpenGL ?
And do you have img2dds turned on ?
1) It is already on OpenGL, I will try it on Direct 3D
2) The what?
-
Ah! All ships are now B/W!! Even without a mod on!
-
So, the lesson of the day is: don't use Direct3D.
-
No, Direct 3D works. It fixes it. Open GL gives me the bad ships. Too bad Direct has poorer quality..
-
Well, generally Direct3D has more problems and issues than OpenGL, because OpenGL is favored in FSO. Problems including but not limited to malfunctioning cutscenes and poor texture quality.
-
That could be a cache issue, a driver issue, or a video card issue. I'm betting on cache.
Open up your FreeSpace install and go into the data folder for each mod, then delete the cache subfolder. It's probably in the mediavps now if its happening with every mod.
This might be related to that texture bug where Shivan ships get no red colouring.
-
Delete the folder, or it's contents?

Delete the folder, or it's contents?
You choose. Either way it leads to the same result: the cache is purified.
Actually, I'm not sure, but you might want to let the \freespace\data\cache folder continue its life. So at least for that folder, just delete the contents.
-
I Deleted all the caches in the FS2 folder, as well as the mod ones. Still leads to the same result. Black and White ships. I think I will just re-install FSO, and then hope it works.
-
When I deactivate mediavps, it works, OpenGL or not. I'll reinstall it.
-
did it work after you reinstalled it, I have the same problem

Hey guys, this really seems a ForceWare 169.xx series issue. These drivers series are problematic in OGL, even with the actual official WHQL release.
I never got this black-and-white-stripes issue, (my system is Vista 32 bit + 8800 GTX), but feanor got them with Vista 64 bit. See screenshot in this closed thread (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,50857.0.html).
If it is a 169.xx issue:
- Latest version, and official BTW, (.21 (XP) and .25 (vista)), seems to run fine BUT with -no_glsl. So official 3.6.9 build is not going to render fine.
- 163.75 should run fine.
- 169.xx has also a side effect with missing resolutions at least in Vista (1280 x 960 as example). I've posted a hack that at least works in my system. (No other guarantees).
Please confirm that this is (or not) your situation. Read this thread, it has all available info about the issue: SCP Troubles (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,50345.0.html). And please use this linked thread to post all the info you can. Let's keep it focused.
