The Deimos appears to be missing some textures when I look at it in modelviewer.

Modelview can't read .dds textures.

No I mean it seems to be missing part of its textures. It is also apparent in-game.

Do you have "Enable jpa/tga textures" checked in the Launcher?

If he has the 5.5c launcher he doesn't need to.

For me it's the same. A part of the Deimos is invisible, and I think I can't even collide into this invisible part. E.g. I can fly through the Deimos.

If enabling jpg/tga doesn't help, then you're almost certainly missing textures and you'll need to re-download them from wherever you got them.
The other case is if you have an obsolete computer, like mine. Always post your system specs when submitting a bug report. If you have an integrated card, for example, DDS won't display in FreeSpace Open. In that case, look up "DDS" in the FreeSpace Wiki and it'll tell you how to convert the DDS to a useable format.

Is avaible any program like modelview which is supporting dds files? Could anyone implement dds support for modelview?

Put simply, no. You'll have to view DDS in FRED or FreeSpace.

If it's non-collidable, use the Deimos as cover from capital ships and fighters. IIUC you should be able to shoot through the hull at enemies. Just make sure to get out of there before it explodes.

Never mind I enabled jpg-tga. Its fine now.
