Title: Minbari Project related stuff (Seperate to TBP)
Post by: emi_100 on December 02, 2007, 01:35:28 pm
Will we get the new "Newtonian Physics"; New "Shake effect" for afterburner; "Full Inertial Mode"; "Autopilot" updated; "Full Inertial Mode" updated; "Fuel" parameter added; "Warp in/out" physics updated up to actual B5 physics; "Collisions" updated - SHIP/SHIP, SHIP/DEBRIS, SHIP/WEAPON; "Radar" updated; "Hyperspace navigation" updated; "Collisions" updated - SHIP/WEAPON.... from the  Minbari Project??

Since they're not committing anything to CVS it looks pretty doubtful.

Does the Freespace engine even support Newtonian physics?

The engine could from what I hear from people who've poked about in the Physics engine. It's doubtful the AI would cope with it well though.

... now that is why we put ai_profiles.tbl so we could play around with that, right?

The ai changes required are significantly bigger than anything in AI_tables from what I understand.

Sounds like it would take an extreme amount of work to implement.  Why not just play IFH if you want the physics?

Let's cut to the chase here. Asprin's modifications require a stand alone game engine that is NOT COMPATIBLE WITH TBP. If you want to discuss his game engine don't do it a thread relating to a TBP release.

IP so we will need a seperate install to play that engine so we don't corupt the TBP engine.  Asprin will do the support for his own engine?

It has nothing to do with me or TBP. I know that Asprin has not made compatability with TBP a priority but little else. If you want details... ask Asprin.

It's got nothing to do with the SCP either.

Just to warn you ahead of time that since we don't have access to his code I for one won't be doing any support work for it either.

Hello.

All announced futures WILL BE present in Minbari Project, incuding Newtonian Physics and, as the result, major AI changes (i mean in cpp). But please,  LET US FINISH THE VOICE ACTING  this is very painful process for us, and then we shall release our project. We shall be very appreciate if someone of you will join us and assist with the english grammar.

Ian, it's not true. If there will be a support of TBP, there will be COMPATIBLE WITH TBP.

I will give it itas own install folder to be safe.

Maybe I should rephrase in the same way Karajorma has. TBP will not support Minbari Project. Anyone who installs Minbari Project will do so at their own risk, and I'll be pointing them at you when they have problems Asprin.

Also, presumably you are overriding TBP's standard tables?

TBP will not support Minbari Project
As you wish, but OSS MP will support TBP, i mean some compatibility :)

Yes, they have a differences.

As far as I'm concerned. If you're overriding the tables you're incompatible. Don't pretend otherwise. It'll just confuse the poor end users and cause both of us problems ;).

Oh, yes. I will be more accurate. This compatibility means that all TBP futures will be available in the OSS MP.

Thanks Asprin and good luck getting the project finished.

Just put a disclaimer, give it its own sepeate installed game folder.

I also hope the grammar of the EACW is acceptable. I am no native english speaker as well, and I didn't want to come up with something to the effect of "Someone set up us the bomb. We get signal. All your base are belong to us." :)

My sympathies.

Any issues like that should come up in beta testing. Just make sure you have a native English speaker in the team.
