Well, PC Gamer has mentioned Freespace 2 in their magazine again. Only this time, they apparently haven't remembered us here at Hard-Light Productions. The Tarr Chronicles was given a 50% (Merely Okay) by PC Gamer, but Freespace was given a sort-of honorable mention deal. I quote : "After all, you can only replay Freespace 2 and Freelancer so many times before your inner Han Solo demands something new..." What about us here at the Hard-Light Productions?

They usually pay little attention to fan communities and old games except to mention the original retail product.
-
Haven't they been on HLP before?
-
We should locate their headquarters and send in a shivan or two to teach them some manners. :hopping:
-
 What's their contact info?

www.pcgamer.com/
My work blocked it out :(

I'll drop them a line when 3.6.10 comes out. ;)
-
:wtf: Officially or unofficially? IIRC, it is out...
-
Not in it's final form. It's in beta.
-
Probably closer to alpha actually. :) Beta will be when we start doing the release candidates same as we did with 3.6.9
-
Speaking of beta testing.... How long until the beta release? release > one month?

Why only 50%?
(btw, what did they give Crysis?)
-
50% is not "merely okay" by their current standards. It's basically crap. :p
-
From playing the demo, I didn't get the impression that the game was going to be great. But what could warrant a 50?
I mean, the game had a [expletive deleted]ing storyline! That's more than I can say for a lot of the generic [expletive deleted]ing [expletive deleted] that they're giving 100s.
-
Yes, but you see they had good graphics. And of course, good graphics obviates the need for story.
...
[/sarcasm]

Tarr actually has a pretty decent idea for a setting. I haven't had much time to try out the gameplay but it didn't seem that bad to me. Not a 90% game but not a 50% one either.

FS2 has another mention in the January 08 issue.
P113 (UK edition):
Numerous mods and add-ons have perfected what was already one of the most intense and dilligently imagined space combat sims in the world. Unmissable co-op combat.
See, they still love us!

Yeah, this one lives in America where we don't get the UK PCG.
