I can't use it, but this looks like one Hell of a deal.
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3089875&Sku=C13-6076
Corsair XMS2 DHX 2048MB Dual Channel PC6400 DDR2 800MHz Memory (2 x 1024MB)
$39.99 (After rebate.)
-
hah.
i just bought that exact same thing, not a week ago, and from tiger direct :D
i can vouch that it IS in fact a legit deal. arrived in 2 days, and i've been very happy with it since :)
-
It's a pretty good price, although many of the 2x1GB DDR2 packs are very cheap these days. It doesn't seem to use the D9GMH chips, but apparently Crucial is not guaranteed to use them anymore so I'm not sure if it's worth paying $10 more for their equivalent Ballistix pack. On that topic, I actually got the rebate check for the latter just last week, even thought I had bought it back in August. :p
This stuff (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820227189) is also worth a look. It seems to be a bit picky about voltage and probably won't go much beyond its rated 800mhz speed, but it's hard to beat the price.

Hahhaah tigershark & rebates.
-
I think Corsair is running the rebates, not Tigerdirect, since the same rebate is on Newegg and many other sites too. Still, you can expect to wait at least three months with these things before you get the check, assuming you do everything exactly right when submitting it. :p
-
still a good deal i think though :)
-
On NCIX you can get 2X2048 for 110$.
-
If you're willing to wait a bit for it to get back in stock, you can a pretty decent 800mhz pack of that for $75 on the egg by using this promo code (http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview.aspx?catid=40&threadid=2128237&enterthread=y).
-
On a side note, when are the NVidia 9 series coming out?
-
The rumors say February for the high end D9E, with the midrange stuff coming later in Q2. I'm holding off buying anything right now in the hope that the D9E will be an actual new gen card and not just some dual G92 SLI thing, which has been in the news as well although under a different name.
-
D9E? That would be the 9800 GTX?
-
Yes, or whatever they decide to call it.
-
When are the new Intel quads (or octals) coming out? I mean the low end versions. (Q6850 or whatever)
EDIT: What about the Phenom 9900?
And the 38x0 series, ATI names their top end card the x9xx, so these must be the precursor to the top-end card. (3900)

why are we talking about other places to get the same RAM, but pay MORE for it, when tigerdirect both has it in stock, and has it at a lower price than anyone!?

The Penryns are coming sometime in Q1 '08. I don't know about the Phenom model, but that line has basically flopped anyway. :p
The video cards have deviated from that naming scheme this time around. The 3800 is of the same generation card as the 2900.

I don't see that stuff or anything equivalent on Tigerdirect. Note that it's a 4GB (2x2GB) package, not a 2GB one.
Even the memory in the original post is cheaper on Newegg, although only by a dollar.

But the 3800 has a new chipset, and GDDR4. Go to ShopBot.com, select memory, and then by price. You can get 2 Gb of DDR2-800 for 40$. (OCZ and Corsair)
