Title: Best 150-170$ Mobo (Canadian Dollars)
Post by: colecampbell666 on December 11, 2007, 05:51:21 pm
I'm looking to see what is the best mobo in the 150-170$ range. I've seen good things about Asus, GigaByte and NForce. I want to overclock my PC, and the P5B Plus, for 140$, and the P5K-E, for 150$ look good.

What about other manufacturers?

None of these guys look like the type that can be bought. (http://www.mobo.com/?page=349)

Just stick with the cheap ladies on the street corner.

If you used abbreviations that I actually understood, I'd be glad to help... but since I used the time that I would have otherwise spent helping you on figuring out what the hell a mobo was, and ranting, you're out of luck.

That shortform is standard for motherboard. Although I don't know how he managed to spell dollars like that. :D

The P5K-E or IP35 (what I have) are generally good choices and will typically get at least 480mhz or so on the FSB. For best results, stick with CPUs that have an 8x multiplier or higher.

If you can still find an IP35-E over there for cheap, it's probably the best deal, as it's nearly the same thing as the IP35 but priced lower. Abit actually discontinued it here in the states since it was cannibalizing sales of their more expensive boards, but it's still available in some places. :p
