Title: Sparky Problem.
Post by: UniversalLemon on December 13, 2007, 10:04:11 pm
Haven't been on here in forever... alright. Hiyas.

Lemme get straight to the meat of my problem. When I download the game via Turey's (amazing) installer, the file Spark_fs2.vp hangs at 71%, always. Invariably. Now, A.) Has anyone else experienced this issue and B.) How may I work around it?

I am on XP, downloading via public WiFi (which worked before- about a year ago). I haven't tried using the smaller installer that runs offa Java... I will later.

This game is truly stellar, and a small issue like this is rather... irksome, and I pray is easily solved.

I apologize for my n00bness in asking this from you with nary a reintroduction, and I hope one day I can return to the favor to someone.

Y'all rock on, now.

You may work it around by not using the installer at all, and just do everything yourself. Install, and stuff, works much better, and saves turey's bandwith. He had some problems with that.

Sound a bit harsh, but okay.

WAIT? Where did all the Links with CD's go to?

Edit: Here are the links, sorry for the crappy post (http://hades-combine.com/web/index.php?ind=downloads&op=section_view&idev=76)

You might also download FS2 from HotU (http://www.the-underdogs.info/game.php?id=4150). It's a full 1.2 version of FS2, minus the cutscenes. It'll download quite slowly but eventually it'll come out. Then, just start working on that, getting the FSO executables, cutscenes, mediavps and the likes.

Actually simply download that HotU version, stick everything in it (except the fake MVE files)  into the folder that Turey's installer created  and then run it again.

Hmm. True that. It doesn't do any harm at all. Why didn't I think of that?

Cause you didn't build the HotU download yourself and thus remember that it was built with SCP installation in mind? :D

Whoa... thank you all for the prompt and informative responses! I never expected my issue to get solved so easily and... quickly. Usually these sorta topics get snuffed out by elitist long time members...
After work I'll try the HotU thing :D

Thanks again!
