Pre-P.S.: Please dont come in shouting the name is copied from the GTF Angel. Because it isn't.
Realizing for the 10'000th time that my previous model was just plain crap, I had to make something better to get my virtually non-existing reputation back. So here it is.
The Archangel-class interceptor is taking over the role as modern interceptor, slowly replacing the Europe-class interceptor, which saw service for the last 12 years.
While previous interceptor models had to be cheap and effective, the new formation of the UTE (United Terran Empires) opens vast amounts of resources, opening the possibilitys for high-quality equipment. In reflection to that, only state-of-the-art technology is built into the Archangel, and thus, is technically superior in every single aspect over it's predecessors (except building costs of course). Missile carrying capability is however diminished, as the Archangel rather depends on it's primaries, which are formidable.
Tech Specs:
Sextuple PAC's (Plasma Accelleratpr Cannon's), special on-board computer rigged issue* (sextuple means six)
Twelve rocket launcher tubes, carrying 130 Piercer-Type dumbfires or 30 Hunter-Type aspect locking missiles
7.5cm High density titanium-tungsten composite hull
Two 250 MW shield generators, one at the bottom, one at the top, hidden under hull
Two engine block equipped with two high-power electrostatic Xenon-Ion thrusters, 190 m/s top speed, 260 m/s on afterburners
Two small fusion power plants
Apple Inc. on-board computer
Seat with leather finish
*The PAC's are connected with the on board computer, which collects target date on the currently locked-on target. Depending on size of the target, the on-board computer will modify the payload-rate of fire relation. E.G., another interceptor will be bombarded with 1kg of plasma per shot at 6000 rounds per minute, however a bomber will get 20kg of plasma at 100 roundsper minute.
And now, oh right, the pictures. The model isn't finished yet, but you'll get a insight.

Oh, c'mon, someone click on this thread and post something :(
-
Nice to see another sketchup user, though the model leaves somthing to be desired... :blah:
-
I said it isn't finished. Bah. :)
-
It isn't even close to finished. Please, don't post unless you have something close to finished. Your model looks like a Freespace analog of either the B2-Spirit or the Longsword Bomber from Halo...(both are pretty basic models)
-
Besides the above, would it be a good idea to put this in an off topic board?
-
Okok, I'm working on it, stop flaming me.
/EDIT: Sparty, I have to second you, it isn't nearly finished, and the longsword looks like a giant unarmed heap of metal rather then a fighter.
-
It'd be nice to see some isometric pictures...
-
I guess isometric means like half-profile or 3/4 view... so here it is, it's already a more detailed version
And the strange things on top of the engine block are a) the rocket/missile launcher and b) the Superlightspeed Meson accellerators. It's supposed to work the following way (although physically impossible): When activated, these accellerators smash antineutrons together in a extremly dense nano particle accellerator. The antineutrons split and reveal multiple pairs of quarks and anti-quarks (mesons). Then, these are directly injected into the engine block, where a special system attaches onto the xenon ions, thus accellerating them to near light speed (299'792 m/s). Whilst this is already a extraordinary speed, it has been discovered that when travelling at this speed for 3-15 seconds (depending on the mass of the ship), a yet unresearched physical disturbance propels the ship roughly ~50 times of light speed. To stop at the right moment, modern ship computers need to measure time at the accuracy of a Planck-Time.

We're not flaming you, we're just wanting to see something that's a little more fleshed out. And the longsword is a sort of space-faring analog to the B-2 Spirit, plus we never actually see it in action.

Little update, I've added a shield emitter (the squares on front) and intruded the hull a bit, in reflection of having a bit less armor for less weight.

Add more detail to the cockpit. Right now I can't find it :nervous:.
-
All that blue stuff has to be white btw :p
-
I don't really know what's the difference between the blue and the white stuff, SU just makes them that way.
-
I like the design so far though. The color layout makes me think it's vaguely like an arwing... Then again, I need some sleep.
-
the blue is supposed to go inside, else it wont render properly
-
Oh f**k.
How can I change that :shaking:
-
:p right click a blue face and click "reverse faces"
-
Haha, it sounds almost too easy.
-
It also tells me stones has never completed a model in his life
-
I find your disregard for tact appalling, Hellstryker.
Ironically.
-
Just like me! ;)
-
What? all im asking is if hes completed a model. if he shows me proof, ill believe him. whats wrong with that? :wtf:
-
Nono, he's right. But then again, I wonder how I've should have know this blue'n'white stuff.
Anyway, here are new pics of the new details:
1) are heat radiators at the bottom of the engine blox
and 2) are more detailed muzzles and a comm subsystem.
/EDIT: Phew, I've also whited it all out. Clueless how to add more detail now, Help me.

High poly guns and missle banks.
-
Woah, long time no see.
A few days ago, I made lotsa progress with my interceptor. I think it will even take place in a fanfic... Will.
Appearently Google managed to totally **** up SU for Leopard. If they already steal my personal information, couldn't I at least do what I desire?
