Anyone got any ideas where I can store 1gb worth of data for retrieval by Hip63?
-
Are you talking a 1 gig file or just a directory to keep a bunch of stuff? Temporary or permanent? I might be able to help depending on the actual need. I've got virtually unlimited storage on a 512k line sitting right next to me and a couple of gig of storage on my ISP I'm not using but it's limited bandwidth per month.

ask Primus

File Front is good for temporary purposes, but don't name your stuff "babylon", name it something random... they have a fetish against TBP.

You can use the space I gave you for the 3.4 installer.
The cap is like five or six gigs.

Hey IP,
You could also use rapidshare.com as I happen to have a rapidshare account so it would be easy for me to download. You can upload for free.
You would just need to use winrar or 7zip to split it up while compressing it and rapidshare has a free tool call the 'rapid uploader' (oddly enough) that will make uploading multiple files easy.
This would also keep the file just between me and you, no peekers! :nervous:

Rapidshare doesn't function for me at all. It's a no-go.

Ian, please check your mailbox.

Hm? Get a 3gb storage email address from Yahoo or Lycos, email it to some account you created, then tell your friend the password for the account.
If you don't like that, Mediafire - www.mediafire.com - is the best upload site I've seen. No wait times and your file stays online forever. The only problem is that you're limited to 100mb per upload, so just use WinRAR or 7zip to break your file up.

Google Mail (http://mail.google.com) is up to 6 gigs of storage now.

FUBAR-BDHR was kind enough to provide some temporary space, which is all I need. So hopefully this problem is resolved. Thank you all.
Hip63 may need some suggestions though as to where he can store the finished installer package. In this case sharing a mail account with the entire planet and splitting the file into a hundred pieces aren't really viable options.

FileFront will work for a limited time, just to help... name it something awkward. But, beyond that and torrents, I don't know... although me & Huggybaby have a trick up our sleeve, it would only work for those willing to use torrents, and not everyone can / will.

I have a space with unlimited quota ( at least that's what my host said to me) , but I don't think they'll let me put a 1GB file for downloading. If you need a temporary 300 - 500 MB storage for download I think I can help.
(My server is in France)

I'll check with my ISP. Right now I'm set at 100gig per month but since I hardly ever hit even 1gig I'll see if they will wave the cap for a month. They told me they would before but that was a couple years ago.
I think I misread what you needed the first time. Are you talking about a permanent d/l location for public distribution? If so I can't do that one. I can provide a permanent location for the files to sit for you to access when you need to but that's about it.

FUBAR I wasn't thinking of using your space for public downloads. Just to transfer files to Hip63 so he can build the installer. Besides I would imagine 3.4b getting >100 downloads and breaking your 100 gig limit. We need something with no limit.

Yea I kind of figured that after I had already posted. That's what I get for posting when I was still half asleep.
