Today (well, it's 01:54, so that would make it yesterday afternoon) I said to myself - I'll release the HTL Galaxy as a Christmas gift (sorta) or die trying..So I sat at my PC and the torture begun.
Oh boy...I won't bother you with the details but suffice to say it took 5 different pofs, 2 PCS1 version and the latest PCS2 version with a LOT of re-converting, shoving back and forth between PCS's and re-doing of ALL the pof data from scratch...all that to get rid of the damn collision and scaling bugs. I just finished the thing 10 minutes ago.
Hm...Hades-Combine is acting up, so I'll host it elsewhere...Here you go folks:

And Merry XMas! :)

Excellent work, as usual!
-
Trashman, any chance you could upload your VP file? its got all those nice ships and i be too lazy to put em in manually :p
-
Very soon.
The next chapter of the FOW will be ready soon (hopefully...6 more missions to go..give or take), but I'll release all the ships needed for it in a niec VP before that. Got some more tweaking to do and a fighter to finish.

I'm confused about FOW, since you skipped the pirate chapter. Which is the next one?
-
For simplicity I decided to drop the chapter numbers completey .. so in essensce, in chronological order:
FOW - Baptism of Fire (a.k.a. the released Chapter 1)
FOW - The pirate Kings (aka, the chapter that will probably never get done)
FOW - Coming of the Storm (aka - Chapter 2, part 1)*
FOW - Dawn of the Apocalypse (aka - Chapter2, part2)*
*names are prone ot change

ERm..I noticed a problem with the nameplate on my end.
It appears to be transparent..you see TROUGH the hull (which shouldn't be possible, the nameplate is on a separate plate that hover a few inches above the hull.. if it's transparent once should be able to see the hull behind it)
If anyone is having this problem tell me and I'll put up a modified nameplate (that uses blue panelling for background).
-
You need to treat partially transparent nameplate polygons in exactly the same way you treat cockpit glass - you have to attach them last in the cob. As such, assuming you don't want to reconvert it again, the textured background is the only way it will work correctly.
-
So you're NOT doing the pirate chapter? Okay, makes sense now.

Since when? I never had trouble with any ship before or with the Galaxy itself before this.
And they all use the same nameplate method.
-
I think i had this issue with the archangel. I'll check to see if I found a way to fix it. Otherwise, just post a textured nameplate.

LE fixored nameplate (http://www.ferrium.org/trashman/Stuff/Galaxy.pcx)
-
Since forever. :p
If nameplate transparency worked on previous ships without you specifically doing that, then it just means you got lucky in the order in which you added them, and the nameplates were rendered after the polys of the hull beneath.
-
Looks great , Might I have some screen shots where you show the sides or must I download it? :p
(sorry for being so lazy, feel free to make a lazy replay in return)
-
The last screenshot in the GTF Falcon thread also show the Galaxy from the side.

heheh...the folder with just the ships and maps for the next part of the FOW series is a whopin' 140 MB!!!
I still have to double, and triple-check everything and convert some maps to dds but this is scary. To think that not all ships are in there (there is another FOW part after this one) is even more...disturbing
