I asked this before...and never got an answer. Then i bought a new video card...
What video card are you using? and you can always use Direct3D, even if it does suck.
-
 i'am lost, crap. lol i have no idea what card i'am useing, i'am not a nerd, lol :D. but i guess i can look, but then i'd be lost again. :nervous:

Well openAl is easy to find, you can get it at the FSO download page, or click this link (http://developer.creative.com/articles/article.asp?cat=1&sbcat=31&top=38&aid=46&file=oalinst.exe) if your to lazy to go there.

The way he said it, everyone who has a working copy of FSO should be.
Trust me Neo, you're a nerd.

:wakka:
Just kidding

:snipe: :beamz: haha, i know   ur kidding, and yes, i am a nerd, thats why i came here.... burn

Use opengl in freespace. D3d has no support and is going downhill. Download the latest drivers for your video card, they have opengl included in them...it seems you have done this.
Do what i do and google openal. Then, go to the openal page and download the installer and of course install. You'll be able to use the launcher without fuss and of course play the game.
-
opengl comes with your graphics card drivers
-
Ya, go to your GFX card manufacturer's homepage, get latest drivers, install them, then go to www.openal.org and get the Installer for Windows (not the SDK, you don't need that), and you should be golden. Oh, and be sure to run the mediavps mod if you are playing FS2 campaigns.. mod campaigns should have a mod.ini that auto-loads the mediavps, so just select their mod from the MOD section in the launcher... but if you're just playing "plain" old FS2 and want it pretty, then select the mediavps mod. ;)

...Except I'm not sure if the latest NVidia ForceWare drivers work properly? There have been some OpenGL related problems with either the latest driver, or the one preceding it. If it doesn't work, revert to older driverset.
This is, of course, irrelevant if you have something else than NVidia graphics card.
What GPU are you using btw? You never said, and it'll be rather important to know for troubleshooting.
-
*sigh* poor nooblet... you cant DOWNLOAD openGL, its somthing in your video card. what your friend meant was OpenAL

And please, Ñeo. It is polite to have zero to two smilies per post, and not necessarily in every post. So far you've had at least two smilies per post, every post. I recommend using some judgement when concidering smilies.
-
Are you using vista?

Not...
-
Wow, all of this because Neo didn't want to search up openal in google like i told him? I know that was one of the reasons.
-
OpenGL is NOT a download. It is the operating type of your GPU. You do not need to download anything to use OpenGL, but your video card must support it. Basically the only ones that don't are cards that are built into motherboards.
To find out what GPU you have, use GPU-Z (http://www.techpowerup.com/downloads/SysInfo/GPU-Z/).

Not to confuse, but you do download OpenGL... with your video card drivers.. else how could OGL support be broken with certain drivers? The hardware itself must also support OGL, of course.
-
Downloading opengl directly from the opengl website is unnecessary. The necessary opengl software is included in the drivers for your video card if your video card has support for opengl in it's hardware.
As far as video cards that don't support opengl? You'd be looking at those years old 2d only vga cards  Which 3d card doesn't have support for opengl? It's always been opengl and directx support. Unless there's some old timey 3d cards out there that only have support for directx (if did happen...then rare, and i don't think it happened really...that would be such a smug microsoft move).
This thread is dumb :)

Agreed.

While they may all support OGL it doesn't necessarily follow that they do a good job of it. :D

If I was a mod or admin, I'd censor your post just to spite you :p.

Agreed.
I second that... erm... triple?
