Just recently saw it on the net, here's my reaction:
Sssssooooo much better than the first one, as soon as a decent dvd comes out i'm so there. It was really nice to see the predalien kick so much ass. Basically it was so many levels above the original it's hard to describe. Granted I had pretty low expectations, but this totally surpassed them. I also thought the end plugin with the Yutani corp was a nice tie in with the aliens universe. Defenitely worth watching.

Really?
I was gonna skip over this one, but if that's the case...

I liked it. The acting all seemed pretty forced, but there were some cool, unexpected moments and it was a big step up from AVP.
The predalied did kick an awful lot of arse, but the best overall thing I thought was the take no prisoners, kill 'em all attitude that both the aliens and the Predator had. Killing that kid at the start, hammering the pregnant women, plus the blonde chick getting ninja starred - all very cool. None of this touchy feely crap like at the end of AVP 1. Plus the predator homeworld was awesome.

I thought it was a very average film

Lots of gore and sensless violence? Bad acting?
Kosh, BlackWolf, you ain't really selling it by calling good things bad and bad things good. This is a sign for me to ignore it.
I loathe Quentin Tarantinos work, and this look like something down his alley.

It wasn't really as stylish as a Quentin Tarantino film. Although Planet Terror would be a film to compare it to.
It had a lot of violence and gore. And it also had massively gaping not-quite-plothole right at the very start. It was an interesting movie, but it didn't have any of the charm(?) of the original. Since it was based mostly in the suburbs, you didn't really have people poking around a temple with cool architecture. :p
Do not see it for the acting. There was only one character who did any serious development in that movie, and that was basically
"I ditched my asshole boyfriend, wanna ****?"
But if you want to see a lot of violence and gore, well, AvP goes there. And if you didn't think AvP would go there, then it goes there again. :p

when is it supposed to start? we dont seem to have it yet.

Not sure how you arrived at that conclusion.
Funny you should mention him as I watched kill bill vol1 (for the first time since it was released) last week. Thought it was pretty cool.

tarantino is actually a pretty good director. reservoir dogs is one of my favorite movies. since i grew up on splatter flicks and horror films, its not hard to see where tarantino draws his inspiration from. he takes that and brings it a step forward with stylization. his newer movies like kill bill and death proof, seem to lack the low budget feel of his older movies. death proof it seems he went to extremes to make the movie feel old school, and it came off to me as abit silly.
it does seem like big budget cinema finally got to him. hes just making money and not films anymore. id like to see him make a movie on a shoe string budget again. but thats as likely as big budget cinema coming up with new ideas rather than making remake after remake and marketing them to angsty emo kids.

Yes. If all you ever go to the movies for is to look for the next oscar winners, see another movie. If you want two hours of gorey Sci-Fi Horror fun with a couple of hot girls in it, go see this movie. It's a popcorn flick, nothing more. But it's fun.

sometimes youre just in a mood to see people splatter

Couldn't said better myself. When it comes to action movies I don't look for a indepth story, I only want to see good old action, hot chicks, burning cars and so on. :)
