Hey everyone, just "aquired" modo, been playing around with sub division modeling, my first time ever :) This is what I've got on the third or fourth attempt.

Not that great but I felt like showing it off :D
-
Well this one doesn't look like a giant space dildo at least ;)

If I could model like that, I'd have over half my mod done by now. :(
-
For my next model...

-
Bah, where are the nipples? :p
-
I don't think she's completely naked... But I wish she were... :nervous:
(of course I'm only joking... But... But... Uhh... Nevermind)
-
I never knew snail was into humans :wtf:
-
She's wearing highheels. Tasty!
-
Lol..:D
Still can't get the head/face quite right :(

Hmm... that fighter... is it based on something or does it come from your mind? I think I've already seen something similar somewhere, but I don't remember where...
BTW, nice models
-
That face doesn't look that bad, maybe a bit displeased but only on the one where the whole body is showing. Maybe you could check out the upper lip area, that's the only place that "bothers" me...

You need to learn about poles and edge loops and such, but you're still off to a dang good start. Also, WTF is modo?
These might be useful:

Thank you :) And yea, I'll keep learning :)
Modo was started when some Lightwave engineers broke off from the people who made Lightwave - so it works pretty similar to LW, although much easier to use (IMO, anyway).

Thanks for the links, btw :)

Auch! you really need to work on your topology. :P
You have to get rid of tris and n-gons in deformation areas (they can exist there, but thats for more experienced folks on the SubD subject), as well as poles.
Also, the edgeloop lines need to follow the contours of the anatomy.
Heres a nice topic about edgeflow\topology:
http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?t=108412
Good thing is you can learn from one of the best (Steven Stahlberg), who does use tris and n-gons. Like I said, you can use tris and n-gons in your Sub-D model, but you have to know your way around on how the affected areas will react to deformation.
Hope that helps to get you goin :)

Were you inspired to model a women by the phrase 'Atleast it doesen't look like a giant space dildo?'?
-
lmao
-
ROFL, to think i may have sparked the creation of somthing truely horrifying... your not going to put the woman in FS along with your space dildo fighter are you?.... >_<
-
...I don't have a space dildo fighter :p
-
mmm, yes you do. :P its not CALLED that, but it certainly looks like it... theres a thread about it here somewhere but im too lazy to dig it up
-
I doubt it :p I generally try and avoid that shape.
-
All user-made ships end up looking like dildos. It's like a universal law or something. :p
