Hi all, for those who have never seen me before....i am generally a lurker. Using WeatherOp's tutorial i managed to figure out truespace 3.2....sorta. I am slowly learning how to texture using LithUnwrap. I have figured out...kinda...how to use PCS. And now I am stuck. I have used 3dexploration to convert a homeworld 2 interceptor to cob format. I am slowly getting it textured. but engines, glowpoints, eyepoints...most of the pof stuff confuses me....ESPECIALLY SHIELDS and getting the blasted thing in game. I have searched and read craploads of tuts....still not getting anywhere. Should anyone have mercy on this poor noob...please help me out a bit...or direct me to some really good tuts.
-EDIT- Upon further searching i found a very good texturing tutorial. But i am still trying to figure the rest of this stuff out...hardpointing, gun points, getting it ingame...wow...i don't know how you guys do it so well, but you have my respect.

Take a look at here http://freespace.volitionwatch.com/blackwater/fstut/fstut_index01.htm and also here http://homepage.ntlworld.com/karajorma/FAQ/modding.html
Then you could open some of the retail or user made ships in PCS to see how they had setup all the subsystems etc stuff in there. Also note that there is new PCS 2 in the works which is a lot better than the old PCS.

These tuts helped somewhat. I am happy to say that another user has offered to help me out through messenger in his spare time. To be honest...i saw his message and just about fell off my chair...never saw it coming. So thanks all. I hope to have my first mods out to you all shortly.
then i realise something. I am running retail FS2 and FS. I don't believe the SCP runs on my system. ANOTHER PROJECT FOR ME! GETTING SCP ON MY COMPY!

I pm'ed him earlier, I'll get him comfy with retail and then jump into the animal that is SCP. :) ;7

as an after action post. GR has officially taught me the basics of modding retail FS2 in less than 4 hours. This is after my many hours of struggling along by myself. Seriously, kudos to ya. the help was invaluable. I will post screenies of my first mod when its finished.
