Title: Two quickie FS2 graphics things...

Alright, elaborating a bit on the ship trails idea since models are being used for planets the invisible nebula poof nebula to get the trails as an idea works very well.

The nebula background itself is of course a bitmap, but the look of Homeworld and Cataclysm's backgrounds can be remade by a high resolution custom backdrop there.

On the individual stars, suns, and shadow effects, in the stars.tbl the glare from a sun can be lowered to nothing and so the individual stars can be done this way. (since you can position suns in a nebula)

On the second FS2 graphic thing, the small explosions when a missile destroyer launches missiles can be done with a muzzle flash like on the flak guns in FS2.

Anyhow, the whole thing to get trails might be complicated, but in my opinion very much worth it as it would capture the feel of Homeworld...

Yeah that sounds rather good. But would it reduce framerate?

Only as much as a nebula does, and since FS2 is starting to get a wee bit old and most people's cards can more then handle the nebula it's a non-issue really.

Wel seems like the part of the particle spew ain't going through, it ain't working, firstly the ani's offset is wrong, and it seems like you have to add to the flags FLAK and PARTICLE SPEW, and with flak you see the ani but it ain't firing the weapon, and if you do particle spew, it fires particles along with the weapon.

For the missile's it works fine but no for the other weapons like the guns of a HC

If any of you guys have gotten it to work fine (the gun thing)let me now how to do it then

Another problem, if were doing the campaign (and I know we are), then some of the missions will take place in nebuales....

yeah i liked the gardens of kadesh plus i think the kadesh look cool. So what are we going to do about the nebula!

Just because you have some nebulas with invisible poofs to serve as normal space with the ship trails doesn't mean you can't have a nebula with poofs  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/tongue.gif)
