Having just got round to plugging FSPort into my copy of FS2 I thought I'd have a bash at this Silent Threat campaign, but have found myself in a bit of a no-win scenario :blah:
I've got to the 3rd (I think) mission where you have to guard the escape pods until they dock with a destroyer, but something seems.... well.... unfinished and outright broken.
Everything seems to play okay right up until the end where the pods dock with the destroyer, in fact only one of them does - the other somehow gets orders to "Attack Alpha 1" and the destroyer jumps without it so I'm left floating around in my Herc totally alone except for this demented escape pod trying to ram me at 10m/s
There seems to be no way to finish this mission at all.
If you jump out and leave it you get dressed down for abandoning them.
If you put them out of their insane misery you get dressed down for being a trigger happy knob.
Is there something that has to be done to get this little thing to dock like its supposed to, or should I just go and play the Gauntlet again? :p

You need to finish the mission before the pod will dock. Destroy all enemy fighters, including the ghost Lokis.
-
The destroyer (and its escort wing) jumps out *before* the ghost lokis arrive, so erm.... How?
-
One of your wingmen should shout "Sucker punch!" and then you attack a bunch of stealthed Lokis.
-
Let's see. If I'm not totally wrong, another destroyer should arrive, during which the first destroyer jumps away and at that point the stealth Lokis flying around attack you. Once you've taken them out, the pod docks with the second destroyer and you complete the mission. Are you missing some of these mentioned phases?
-
No "Sucker Punch", but about 8-or-so Loki's do jump in after the others leave.
And, only one destroyer - the one that picks up the first pod then leaves.
I believe that my constitute a missing 'phase' :ick:
Is the second destroyer arrival tied to any particular event, or is it timed?
-
You know what? Imma play that mission right now and then tell you what should happen. BRB.
Edit: Awright. Here's what happens. You start the mission, right? Command yells at the pods about a cruiser 'n stuff, k? Shivans attack. While you are fighting the Shivans, an unnamed destroyer arrives, with stealthzored Loki escort. Another wave of Shivans arrive and you blast them. Escape pod 1 docks with the destroyer. Then, the GTD Myrmidon arrived and claims to have come to collect the escape pods. The first destroyer departs along with a few Lokis. The rest of the Lokis turn hostile, one of your wingmen yells 'Sucker punch!' and you blast them. Right? Then, pod 2 does indeed have the attack Alpha 1 on it, but it should dock with the Myrmidon. Then, the destroyer departs and tells you to return to base.
This is what is supposed to happen.

Oh bum...
I think I've got corrupt VP or something.
Thanks for the info guys, and for the test Lo
*runs off to find a fresh copy*
-
Uh, Lobo, the "GTD" leaves about 3 minutes before the Myrmidon arrives.
-
Where I come from, the Myrmidon arrives 10 seconds after the first pod has docked, and the 'GTD' departs when the Myrmidon is roughly halfway through the jump point.
-
Odd.
-
...though I've always considered it a bit odd, since the Myrmidon doesn't perform any inquiries about the other destroyer. Or the Lokis, for that matter.
-
Well, then again, Silent Threat wasn't very well done. It was all really rushed for some reason beyond us mere mortals.
-
Hopefully that will be fixed in Silent Threat: Reborn
-
Oh, but it won't be.
It shall be redone completely.
-
Well...completely redoing the mission should fix the problem
-
Quite so.
