Title: De Suspensis
Post by: Mobius on January 05, 2008, 05:41:10 pm
A message for...whoever removes the internal forums attachments...

Could you please inform us before deleting attachments? In a moment of confusion the INFA team almost risked to lose a few missions made in the last days. I know, "they're in someone's computer...if the attachment is deleted, you can re-UL them" but the risk of overwriting revamped missions with old versions(or lose the computer, it happens...)is considerable. SadisticSid already lost many INF SCP missions because of computer problems and you all know what happened to my computer during the last summer(I didn't lose files, ok, but I couldn't extract them...either).

Even if a mission has been DLed more than once it doesn't mean that more than two members have it: DLs might fail, the missions might be corrupted...sometimes more than one DL is required(it happened to me). The point is that recent attachments shouldn't be deleted without having carte blanche from the team...Administrators can access internal forums and post the permission to delete old attachments. In case of urgence they can DL the files, remove the attachments and then ask if the team needs them.

The whole thing seems a bit n00bish right now, but...

Errare humanum est, perseverare diabolicum.

And it's not the case to lose hours of work for nothing ;)

I believe that attachments are deleted automatically when the collective attachment size board-wide reaches a certain limit, so it's not as though one of the mods is specifically targeting mission files.  If you want links to be available over the long-term, some sort of outside hosting is the way to go.

No, attachments aren't deleted automatically: where there was an attachment, now there is the line [attachment removed by admin] (and sometimes [attachment removed by ninja] )

Well, okay, the automatic removal might not be so automatic, but the point about size limit still holds. :p

"That's how things have always worked here on HLP"

As answer? :P

You'll get a "stop ****ing writing in special fonts" answer, actually.

Actually, the Trebuchet MS font is more FS related than yours :P

Any comments? I think we will have to use DriveHQ... :(

People, nobody reply until he stops using fonts! It's time that this treachery stops! Fortune attend you, brothers!
