Title: POF?
Post by: Killer Whale on January 09, 2008, 10:59:34 pm
How do you use them, i've got a few ships from a download and they're POFs, I can't use them!! FRED crashes, and one of them is in the first campaign and turns into an usselys cause it can't use it, and another thing, this is pops up when you open FRED, just before it crashes.

you need to create a proper table entry for the model (pull it from one of the vp's) or use a .tbm or whatever the new scp thing is

This good enough? Or do i have to delete the previous entries to put in the new ones

the game will only pay attention to files named (in the case of ships) shipt.tbl or xxx-shp.tbm (xxx can be anything), so if ships.tbl II contains new entries, you could just name it something like anything-shp.tbm and it would work.  You only need the ship classes section in the TBM though.

C/Games/Freespace/data/tables, that what's there's supposed to be, i assume that all the info is being taken directly from the disc. I'm a bit tired after goin on a weekend holiday so i'll just have a squizz wihtout the disc and see what happens tomorrow, if it doesn't work it'll probably be 1 or 2 days, if it does it might be a bit longer.

Ok. FSO, Stands for Freespace ... I'm not sure, Freespace somethingarather

I open the FRED2 and nothing has changed after the changing.

FSO is Freespace Open.

It's easy to get and well worth it. Pretty much everyone uses it instead of 'retail' FS2 these days.

It's not a mod, it's a new version of the engine.

refer to the part where it says 'download an scp build' and 'download the launcher' and 'run installer and select build'.

but instead interject 'put on flash drive and move to other computer' in the middle
