Guys:
I was perusing the 'Saga' website & came across a fan made campaign for something called 'Standoff'--from what I can understand it's a campaign to try to stop/slow down the Kilrathi attack on Earth; well I am downloading the four chapters for the campaign AND the 'secret ops starter package'
Now I have NO IDEA if this is a 'stand alone' campaign or if it will be added to the 'Saga' prologue or EVEN IF I need part of another game to play this; can anyone fill me in?
TIA

Was it this site (http://standoff.solsector.net/) you stumbled upon? Looks like that project is completely separate from Wing Commander Saga. So follow the instructions on that site and under any circumstances don't mix WCS and Standoff with each other.

Standoff is a complete different project using a differen engine.
So if you want to play this game you need to follow their instructions for it. The latest version had an easy to use installer IIRC. So you first installed the "Secret ops starter" and then you add Standoff to it.
I also remember a patch for the OpenGL mode but I can't remember if it was part of the latest release or seperate.

Guys:
Thank you to all who replied: YES that site was the one that I found the game at; I have already posted my question about the game in their forum; I hope I can resolve the issues there.
THANKS Guys;

Standoff is a good game i have played it all through and waiting for episode 5 they have done some amazing things with the Vision engine that origin made for it and its worth a try for any wc fan. I can't wait for Wc saga to be done i have been playing the tech demo and wc4 demo plus the main campaign and its also amazing how close they are getting to the original game concept of the origins game. the auto pilot is a awsome touch.. its a proud day to be a wing commander fan

I do not want to spoil the suprise, but.. during the past weeks we have been able to modify the Freespace 2 engine even more. Several code changes, autoaiming, better autopilot fly by animations and fiction viewer among them, will bring the game experience to a new level. ;)

And that's the real beauty of having an open source engine. We can just add features when we need them. :)
