Title: I return, and I bring a big boomie!
Post by: FireCrack on January 13, 2008, 10:06:00 am
Yay, anyone miss me?

Anyways, i've finished up the meson bomb, my computer ate the argo and rachacha to some degree (though i'm working on restoring them) but as always, I need someone else to convert the stuff for me!

Soo.. anyone available to do that? And if so, waht format do you need it in?

Edit: anyone ket track of what missiles i've had imported to the game, think there may eb a few I never got around to (Piranah? EMP Adv?)

I probably can do it, if the 3ds file has the textures, and is UVmapped.

Umm.. okay.. are there any other file formats than .3ds that you could use?

(I recall I always had this problem)

edit: nevermind

Hmm, OBJ, or any other export that can keep texture and UVmapping.
Also it needsto be able to import into Truecrap.

Here I hope I did paths right and docks right.

Can it dock to Tritons?

If I did paths and docking right it may.
I will check it my self.

Ah, no it doesn't have LODs.

silly me :(

But it can dock to  Tritons, and actualy looks normal doing so, If everything workecd out right, that is...
/me wants screenies
If the paths the same as the original were used the tritons docking pegs should line up on pegs on this model.

It's small...

Scratch that, it's tiny!

Uh, um, oops?

Scaling went wonky somewhere  guess...

Can some one else do docking and path?
It won't dock to the Triton's main cargo dock.
Wait nvm I see that it needs resizing.
EDIT:I will be gone for a bit in a few.

So... any progress?

So... any progress?
It won't import into PCS2, I do not have PCS1 and it will open in Modveiw which is probably why its scale went to hell.

I don't understand the filesize jump that occurs when opening and then saving something of PCS2.

You do realize you can still download PCS1, right? I still use it for POF editing since PCS2 does weird things to collision detection.

So you know, the pretty bomb is now in the MVPs:

Nice work. :)

For your consideration, another screenshot:

And also a working POF with LODs: clicky (http://pages.sbcglobal.net/joey.wong/bomb2t-01.pof.zip)

All right, well then just enjoy the screenshot anyway or download the model until the 3.6.10 final mediavps are released.

The supplid POF has no debris or MOI. LODs are in classic ABCD.

Definately could use a re-texture too.

Still, damn fine job. A quick open, re-calc MOI and save in PCS 2.0.1 and it works wonderfully.

Err, as I said - the POF I've made and that I've put in the next MVP set has everything (cept debris - bombs don't need them). ;)

I don't like how it's textured. :nervous:

That is just the low-res texture Cobra.

Here's a shot of the new textures.  They're not that different, but they are improved.  Well anyway:

For some reason the TGA glowmap isn't working.  I had to convert to JPG to get it to show up.

Use .dds?

I don't have a converter.  Maybe I'll get one at some point.

*facepalm* this is waht I get for trying to pick up something a long while after I last looked at tit. No debris OR LODs? Bah!

And yeah, the texture is the old one, I tweaked it a tiny bit, but it still needs a proper texture. (Note the somewhat chaotic UV mapping)

Edit: and also one of the "fins" has a misaligned texture :p

Hey!  I added lods to my POF!  (They're just lods from the original freespace model)

^That's probably what I'd end up doing anyways, but the lck of debreis still disapoints me, in addition to the texture....

Why would a huge bomb with a huge explosion need debris?
Title: Re: I return, and I bring a big boomie!
Post by: Cobra on February 25, 2008, 12:18:25 am
Any kind of explosion pushes outward, and since the explosion catalyst is housed inside a container, well... you get the idea.
Title: Re: I return, and I bring a big boomie!
Post by: blowfish on February 25, 2008, 12:42:16 am
But wouldn't such a powerful blast vaporize the container?

Exactly.
