Just another Idea that poped into my head. Sorry about the leave you hanging ending, but that's just the way I write. Hope you enjoy.
EDIT: Thought of a title. "The Dream"
I reach my destination, and the blue walls of subspace are replaced by the speckled void of space. I run a quick diagnostic on my fighter, it comes back good, except for a couple scorched relays. Not bad, considering the hairball I just got out of. My wingmen check in, all in good enough condition to fight. We form up and move into standard escort position around the lumbering convoy.
Minutes pass, then the Shivans strike. My agile Perseus fighter leaps into action as I slam the throttles to full and rush to “greet” the new arrivals. I loose myself in the ensuing battle as the Shivans pour in.
I don’t know how much time has passed when I am brought back to reality by the voice of Command. “We are detecting a massive shockwave emanating from the Capella star.” Shockwave, what? “Capella has gone supernova, get out of there pilots!” It takes me a second to comprehend what is going on, and then I turn toward the node, diverting all power to engines and leaning on the burners.
Something snaps, those relays won’t last much longer. The node seems to move away from me as I push my fighter to its limits. Another snap, accompanied by a shudder, my engine is giving out! I am finally starting to get close to the node. I hear a rumbling noise as small particles pelt my shields at nearly the speed of light. I look to where the Capella star used to be, and see a blinding wall rushing toward me. Almost there! The wave is nearly upon me…
I awake with a start. My cabin is glowing reassuringly. I had seen the beginning of the nova, but my vessel had left just before the star collapsed. I am disturbed by this dream, It has been coming more and more frequently.
I release the clasps on my sleeper. Maybe it needs maintenance, it isn’t unheard of. I tap the near wall with a limb, and float toward my terminal. I turn it on and see the fleet around me, the massive ships scarred and pitted from their journey.
Strange, I can almost still feel the alien chemicals coursing through my body, I must really get that bed fixed… the what? I shake away the strange dream and put a maintenance request into the terminal. I wonder how long it will take to repair all those ships…

nice
-
So, I'm guessing the story's written from a Shivan POV?
-
....it is?
-
Correct. I have no Idea what to do to continue this though. Sorry,
most all of my stories are like that.
-
wow, it's confusing. Confusing stories on their own can be bad (to me), though the way you do it can make a great storyline. An excellant start
-
So this is like the Evolution of the Daleks where a Shivan gets infected by human emotions? :wtf:
-
lol.

A Shivan gains emotions in Evolution of the Daleks? :p
-
he was referring to when the Daleks get human emotions in Doctor Who.
-
Yeah, but due to the word order and other variables it was possible to interpret that sentence in more than one way.
-
A Shivan gains emotions in Evolution of the Daleks? :p
Yes, it's my campaign! The Daleks make an Alliance with the Shivans and destroy the GTVA! But the Shivans get human emotions and help the Doctor and some GTVA pilots defeat the Daleks! :p

Then GTVA loses because command made the boanerges.
-
Actually that was part of the Dalek's master plan. The Daleks knew that the Shivans would attack soon but they also knew that the GTVA could destroy the Shivans with their new GTB KickassBomber. Some Daleks infiltrated the GTVA as salt and pepper shakers and easily persuaded GTVA command to create the Boanerges instead of the KickassBomber.
The GTVA pilots still alive eventually steal the KickassBombers and use them to destroy the Daleks.

They also impersonated as robotic plunger machines.

(Ignoring the mindless babble)

In my vague musings as to how I might continue this, It has something to do with a subspace wave that precedes the nova by heartbeat. Something about the pilot getting sucked into or maybe absorbed by subspace. Then the Shivans, who are sensitive to subspace start to "sense" him or something.
-
Nice story, although I could have sworn GTVA ships have artificial gravity......

Cuz, you know, they do.
-
But it's a Shivan ship.
Now, granted, they have artificial gravity too -- at least judging by Hallfight -- but hey, the point stands!

Actually, judging by Hallfight, they might not, and it was magnetic boots or the Shivan equivalent.
-
i would say suction, hence the hissing sound of the terran boots.
