Title: Voice Acting Manager
Post by: smacinn on January 16, 2008, 09:33:34 am
There doesn't seem to be much info on using the Voice Acting Manager so Hopefully this thread will help others as well since I wasn't sure what to expect when I first went to use it.
The version of Fred I am currently using is 3.6.9 received with the BTRL Demo.

Editors>>Voice Acting Manager
Brings up the dialog boxes shown in the attached screenshots for me.

The Generate File Names brings up the autogenerate dialog which will back fill the wav file names for messages and briefings.  It doesn't create any physical file placeholders as might be thought.  (Thanks to Goober5000 for setting me straight on this one).

However my current problem is that I am not seeing any export functionality from these dialogs to get the script out.  They don't appear to be resizable,  so I don't think there is a button hidden off window.  In the mission I have no command briefing or briefing dialog in yet, but I do have all the debriefing stages and chatter script in place.

Only HEAD builds have the export functionality in place. What I did for BtRL was make the mission in 3.6.9 and autogenerate the file names. Then load it in a HEAD build to export the script.

Erk.  Actually, the stable branch builds have it as well, but I didn't transfer it from HEAD to stable until after 3.6.9 was released.

Try the following build.  It's from the stable branch, so it should work pretty smoothly, and it also has the full manager.

Thanks for the info and pointing me to the appropriate build.
