Title: Freespace Models as 3ds files
Post by: blowfish on January 16, 2008, 08:53:04 pm
I know this has come up before, but I can't seem to find anything that works.  Does anyone have a bunch of Freespace models as textured 3ds files, and if not, is there any way of converting them that doesn't force you to manually rename everything and outputs a file that doesn't work anyway?

you will not have a chance without retouching the textures/materials of the ship, as 3d-exploration messes up the materials.....

i found no other way

if i could get a coder familiar with the .3ds format and 3D Studio it would be easy for them to add support to PCS 2.1 - my biggest problem is i know NOTHING about .3ds/3D Studio

Herc II and Orion models have been made publically available. Don't know about any others.

Yes, especially the fact that it is expensive.

If there was a way to accurately apply textures in Blender from the UV coordinates in a COB file then I would probably be OK.  Does anyone know how to do this?
