Short, but intriguing.
-
I never liked Riker. Everytime he was in command of the enterprise in TNG it was either taken over, heavily damaged, or in one case, virtually destroyed. There was only one time that he actually pulled any successful stunts and that was in the Best of Both Worlds.
-
Riker represented Starfleet's new philosophy of delegating womanizing duties to the first officer so the captain would be free to uphold democratic ideals. I was always a fan.
-
Ermm.... Riker has nothing to do with the actual trailer for the real movie...
This, however does:

Saw that trailer in the theatres today... I believe several people yelled "Hell yeah!" when they saw "USS Enterprise" appear.

Meh.... ST sucks compared to SW
-
Hey Stones!
Die! :P
Jk mate, but Star Trek rules, excited and apprehensious about this movie.
-
Jk? Eh?
-
He means "joke".
And please don't start up yet another ST vs SW fight in this place!

are you kidding, they both suck :D

Right on. The only scifi series worth mentioning is Space: 1999.
-
You'd think by now the real thing would've floated it's way on to the interwebs...
-
The trailer has...

Does it technically count as a leaked version if it's a teaser trailer?

Don't forget Space Cases (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XukV58Y18m8&feature=related). :p

How do they keep comping up with storylines for Star Trek? :shaking:
Seriously, this show was canceled in its third season, then brought back. AND THAT WAS FOURTY YEARS AGO!
Now, I understand that technology keeps getting better, but that is NO EXCUSE FOR COMING UP WITH A NEW STAR TREK MOVIE EVERY TIME MOVIE TECHNOLOGY GETS BETTER!
On a less animated note, I wonder, since I heard the name "Johnathan" mentioned but also an old, gravelly voice saying the "final frontier" quote, if it's going to be pre- or post-TNG/Voyager.
-
It's pre-TNG, before the original series, based during the time that Kirk was at the academy, IIRC.
Personally, I've been thinking they should sit on the franchise for another few years and then do a new series. The last Trek just seemed like Trek for the sake of Trek. I've heard very mixed things about it, and watched a few episodes, and the overall impression that I've gotten is that it used a lot of various Trek storylines but never came up with anything to really distinguish itself, save the Time War.
And I would bet you that the gravelly voice is Leonard Nimoy. :p
-
I do wonder how they will get the voices to match with the originals.....
-
Star Trek is senile and confused. I think we should invite Star Trek for a nice, Thoreauvian walk through the woods, and then when it kneels down to admire the mystical splendor of Spring's first blossom, we should tearfully whisper an apology, and shoot Star Trek in the head.

I would have recommended taking Star Trek out into the night and leaving it naked upon the ice floe, your way seems a bit more stylish.
-
trek has always been and shall always be my best friend
-
Yea the movie is set after Enterprise and before TOS, rumors have it that it'll probably cover the Earth-Romulan wars.
I'm excited to see what they're going to do with it.
-
Rumor has it that you guys are all incredibly behind the times. The teaser poster has been out since this past summer. If you check Memory Alpha, Wikipedia, or StarTrek.com, you can quite easily see that there's plenty of information. It's TOS-era, with the launch of NCC-1701. First mission of Kirk's crew, although they're working Pike in somewhere.
* Eric Bana as Nero (the film's villain)
* John Cho as Hikaru Sulu
* Clifton Collins, Jr. as Ayel (cohort and general to Nero)
* Ben Cross as Sarek
* Bruce Greenwood as Christopher Pike
* Jeffery Hauser as unspecified role
* Chris Hemsworth as George Samuel Kirk, Sr.
* Sonita Henry as unspecified role
* Paul McGillion as unspecified role
* Jennifer Morrison as Winona Kirk

* Rachel Nichols as an Orion
* Leonard Nimoy as older Spock
* Randy Pausch as unspecified cameo role

Quoting 'Of Mice and Men'?

Why can't we start a ST vs. SW war? Pleeeeasssseee :(

*chops off Admiral_Stones head with a lightsaber and then vaporizes the body with a phasor*
-
I seem to recall a trailer that looked suspiciously 'Mirror Mirror'-esque to me :nervous:
-
Has anyone else noticed that quality in the Star Trek series has been declining ever since Next Gen finished up? .... Then again, I seem to notice quality in everything is declining. :nervous:
-
DS9 was very good (post Season 3) - and Enterprise managed to salvage some respect with Season 4.
-
:wtf:
I disagree, I think DS9 was better during the early seasons. I mean, the show really started getting repetitive later on, not to mention that that whole Dominion thing was boring as all Hell.
-----------
As for Enterprise, you could be right. However, If a series sucks for the first three seasons (I will have stopped watching after the fifth episode), I'm not going to bother watching the fourth.
-
:wtf:
:wtf:
The dominion war was the only thing presented in an interesting way in the whole of Star Trek, ever.
-
Seconded.
-

So the problem is with you. Got it. :p

You would seriously watch cow droppings for three years in the hopes that it would turn into a ruby or something?
-

That's not nice.
*runsforcover* ST will be pwned from SW anyway
-

No, i'd go about my business. Then when I hear that the cow droppings have inexplicably turned into a pinup model, i'm damn sure going to take a good look rather than ignore it on the principle that it was at one time cow droppings.
It's not Lost we're talking about here, just watch a damn episode and judge for yourself. :wtf:

No, I'd seriously listen when people started saying the fourth season is good.
-
you don't judge the series/show (singular) by a few good episodes it had, or by it's successful season - you judge it in it's entirety.
Ergo. ENT sucks. VOY sucks. DS9 sucks. TNG... sucks less
-
I love your logic in all of that. *sarcasm in case you didn't know* Do you really think the Star Trek series as a whole sucked?
-
:wtf:
single show is rated based on ALL seasons and episodes due. You obviously missed my point.
-
Hmm based off that edit log on your last post, you changed it after I replied to you. You just lied.

I changed the series into series/show.
I haven't lied.

Show is based on AVERAGE of ALL seasons and ALL episodes. Though one episode may be egregious, I believe that two or three good episodes can make up for it.
-
Seriously, just ignore him.
-
Yeah, it's probably for the better...
-
Great Star Trek tribute video (http://youtube.com/watch?v=80_HKdvNhgA).
-
...wow. That tribute left me speechless. And I'm not much of a Trek fan.
-
tos sucked. ds9 sucked. voyager sucked. enterprise really sucked. next gen was good.
-
You never cease to amaze me sir.
-
*squeal* the ancient hard light god has descended! he has been with hard light since the time of w_evil!!!
-
Seriously, just ignore him.
*glares at Gen. Batty*
Just so you know, looks CAN kill
*stares more intensely. Gen. Batty starts to melt*
-
I do kind of wonder what would happen if everyone did just start ignoring / refusing to respond to him unconditionally. Would he just, like, spontaneously combust or something?
-
OH yeah...Ignore the person who doesn't rate the shows as you do or has different opinions.
That's the way.
Speaking of which - any estimate on when the movie will be done? Might be fun to watch for a few laughs.
-

I wondered that too. I just don't really like the way he talks sometimes. It's just so inflammatory at times.
-
Yeah, it's not ignoring the opinions, it's ignoring the way they're delivered.
Did anyone see the image of Uhura's new earpiece? It looks very, very Borg. I think it's a fake.
-
I've found a little trailer which is presenting Star Trek Online ground combat system: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HurskrKtEpY

Yeah, it's not ignoring the opinions, it's ignoring the way they're delivered.

You saying I should work on my delivery?
I'll make an effort if you will too.
-
Star Trek Online just got handed off from one developer to another. I'm not optimistic about its future; that kind of turmoil in the development cycle usually means the game itself is going to be pretty lousy.
-
Help us JJ Abrams, you're our only hope!
Sorry, I just had to say that.
-
*slaps Kosh* You're not forgiven.

:hammer:
