Title: Freespace II slowing down.
Post by: GawainBS on January 19, 2008, 06:14:23 am
Hello, this is is my first post here, so bear with me, please. :)

Some years ago, I bought the combination pack from White Label, containing both FSI & FSII. FSI plays just fine. FSII plays fine in the training missions, but in the first campaign mission, the game slowed down to a crawl. It started fine, smooth gameplay and such, but gradually my frames dropped, to the point of becoming non-playable. I tried lowering graphic-settings, resolutions, etc... Still the same scenario: smooth beginning, rapidly bogging down to a crawl.
I have a PIV 1.8 Ghz, 1270 MB RAM and a gForce 6200 with 256 MB. I'm using an analog Gravis Blackhawk joystick and I'm running WinXP SP2. The gForce 6200 used to be a gForce 4, which gave the same problem.

Can someone please tell me how I can solve this problem? I really want to try FSII out.

Thanks in advance!

that sounds like a bizar problem, not sure what could be causing it (sounds like some sort of memory leak), I'd recommend trying FSO. it's the top of the next forum section down, I'm sure someone will be by shortly to walk you through it.
