Halo PC users are still like that. I sniped a guy while he was bunny hopping and he called me a n00b because I shot him "while he was typing"

*shrugs* I always tell people who say that to pick a better spot to type in.  ;7

Seriously, I type messages quickly enough that it doesn't really hinder my performance in Halo. If they're slow typers, either hide before typing, or stop talking and PLAY.

These aren't technically rules, they're more like what the average user does in a given situation.

By the way, "Rule" No. 6* happens (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yIhnNmZ8h3s) all (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8-WExWVxTvA) the (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qwGDZouzHzA) time (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V7hsQgEnGhI&feature=related).

Yes, there are a ton of "Wallhacks" and "aimbots" out there... they suck.  A skilled player, you can hope to beat.  A cheater.... maybe if he's lighting his cigarette.

It's also true that good players are routinely called cheaters by average noobs and banned from games by the server admins, which was the point they were making. That happened to me more times than I could count back when I played UT. It's a good thing there are so many servers in most of these games that it doesn't matter. :p

Ahah no3 made me laugh so hard. I got a classmate who plays UT from time to time. I dont even talk about it with him anymore because anytime we do it ends up like this:

Him: "Yeah UT 2003 sucks. The original is much better"
Me: "Oh really? Whys that?"
Him: "Its noobish"
Me: "Uh? Its the same as the original, only with better graphics, more game types and more maps"
Him: "No its not! Its easier to kill there, its for noobs"

OR

Me: "Yeah I like the flak gun"
Him: "LOL! (he actually says LOL, he doesnt laugh... that should give you an idea on his type :P ) It takes no skillz to play, its noobzor"
Me: "Whatever..."

:P

To be honest, there is a slight diference between UT and UT2k3 in terms of pacing, with the former having greater weapon/character speed.

I agree with his conclusion even though his reasoning is stupid. :p There is a world of difference in the gameplay for someone who has played the original a lot, and it's not in a good way.

Yep, only the speed changes... if I want to go slow Id play cs :P

Also I believe there is a inbuilt mod that reverts back to the originals pace

UT had fast paced killing and generally had death at every corner.  It was extremely tough to win with no deaths, even against noobs.

UT200X had slightly slower paced killing and much reduced weapon damage.  It was fairly easy to win with little to no deaths, even against decent players.

UT3 is more or less like UT.

Online games = destroyer of minds

Nowhere else do people justify the fact that they suck with the fact that the person who killed them sucks even more.

i dont know about you all but a text bubble is usually a big ass bullseye to me. i know if i started typing in a big open area id get fragged in about 2 seconds flat. i only gleefully return the favor. 90% of the time im getting my ass kicked anyway, so im gonna have some fun when i can.

one thing i like to do is lob grenades aimlessly into the main room where most of the fragging is going on in. i know this tactic has no hope of ever winning a deathmatch, but i dont care, if it pisses of the laggy newbs and the gay haxxors then im happy :D

I dunno, it is more efficient. As far as I can tell efficiency = laziness and effort = bad in today's world. I find the repetition of the word "like" in a sentence far more aggravating. Seriously, "like" is NOT an INTERJECTION, it is a COMPARISON!

Slightly off-topic: Does anyone have a DVD copy of House M.D.? If you have, this kinda reminds me of the "Valley Girl" versions of selected scenes...

What I find more irritating is people with no basic common sense when playing a team game..

You might be a n00b, but use your head dammit!
There's nothing better than building a defensive perimiter in Termulus (the best possible perimiter..all turrets setup to have the best possible field of fire), only to have someone deconstruct it IN THE MIDDLE O AN ENEMY ATTTACK. Pure genius.

Or hording all the jetpacks and just hovering around in the base, camping..no one joining an attack or responding to call for a charge.

I'd be playing Allegiance right now, if it weren't for the damn NetFramework2.0 I have to have installed atm for VisualStudio 2005... :sigh:

Yarly... but Allegiance = bleh.. I tried once, only one server, and they wouldn't let me in.. or, well, after 10 minutes I gave up.  So.

I tried that, but something about trying to build stuff for 30+ minutes only to have it all destroyed by kamikaze bombers in a period of 2 seconds didn't appeal to me.

Not to mention the fact that 90% of my shots (that I saw, without a doubt, collide) never registered a hit on the enemy when I had approximately 100 ping.

In other words, you didn't miss much.

You guys didn't learn the tricks of the trade. Allegiance is all about teamwork..playing Rambo will get you nowhere.

Assuming  you have a competent commander, if he tells you to guard that constructor or miner - you do it.
No $$$ = no research.
No research = no new weapons and ships.
Expanding and holding territory is important.

A match lasts from 30 minutes to (rarely) 3 hours

There's a couple of things that you have to know when playing this thing:

If enemy has stealth bombers - patrol around your most critical stations with scouts, dropping sensor and pulse drones. Clog the jump points with them.
Stealth bombers have armor made of tissue paper and far weaker torpedoes than regular bombers, but if you're not careful, several of them will slip in one of your important system, position themselves outside your sensor range (usually above and below the plane...approx 6000-7000 meters from the target), wait for the others to make a diversion and then make a run for your station, decloaking at around 2300 meters.

If enemy is making a standard bomber run - TARGET THE NANNIES (scouts with nano-guns) as they constantly repair the bombers, making them 10X harder to take out. Once the nannies are out it's easier to take out the bombers.

Podkill only if enemy has more than 20 kill points. Each kill points means extra % damage the guy does to you. Killing someone in a pod with less than that is seen as cowardly.

And above all - listen to your commander. Don't fly alone - work in groups.

IMHO, it's a excellent team game.

One server.

Ten minutes.

I'd had it.... if I'd actually gotten a chance to play, perhaps I wouldn't have considered the time I spent in the training ( ) a waste.

what server? On Sundays there are squadron matches and no one outside of the squadrons is allowed to join.
Sometimes the commanders just don't want to let more people in if it's too crowded already (50 + players in one sector = Lag & sector overload - all ships take damage over time when that happens)

If you're new you should try the novice servers..they're always willing to take in people.

The funniest thing I've seen about hackers, is when they are caught by posting screen-shots of their 133t scores on forums, and forget to turn their wall hack off.

And sadly, some cases I've seen, is these guys are still so bad you would never think they were hacking all along.

I know that most people who still bother trying to hack in Descent 3 are utterly abysmal at the game (though said n00bs have largely been rendered obsolete by community-created anti-cheat server software).  An intensely amusing session of "gang up on the lamer" usually ensues after any discovery of this nature.
